Summary:

This role serves as a crucial link between Cook Children's and community partners by establishing and nurturing relationships with community programs, educational institutions, and technical training programs. The primary objective is to build a future workforce that meets Cook Children's talent acquisition needs.

As the Workforce Development Specialist, your duties will include reaching out to various colleges, technical programs, and school district programs that offer training for healthcare and related careers. Your focus will be to create community and business partnerships that facilitate individuals' entry into the healthcare industry while also informing colleges and universities about Cook Children's workforce program.

To develop a sustainable workforce pipeline, you will also collaborate with internal groups such as Education, Benefits, Organizational Development, and our Inclusion, Diversity, and Equality team. Your role as a Workforce Development Specialist is intended to establish partner programs with schools and community organizations that support workforce development.

Your first project will be helping to launch the joint job training program between Cook Children's and JPS at Las Vegas Trail neighborhood clinic opening in 2025, which will serve as a template for establishing other similar programs.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required. Masters' degree from an accredited college or university preferred.

  • Five (5) years of experience in talent acquisition, workforce planning, or workforce training.

  • Must have experience communicating and collaborating with leadership and external vendors or agencies.

  • Must be proficient with using Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification

  • SPHR or PHR Certification from a recognized credentialing agency is a plus.

  • A valid driver's license in good standing.

  • Strong quantitative and analytical aptitude, with the ability to learn and navigate across multiple systems and metrics, operational performance, innovations, markets, etc., from various internal and external sources to develop strategic option.

  • Demonstrated ability to listen, anticipate, and respond to business needs.

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

  • High level of professional integrity, particularly in the ability to use discretion when handling sensitive data.

  • Analytical and critical thinking skills to trends and influence business decisions.
