The Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County (the “HBA”) is looking for a new member for our team and we are excited to find an experienced non-profit professional to join us as the Workforce Development and Education Coordinator. The HBA represents and promotes the interests of the residential building industry on issues that affect their ability to provide housing that is affordable for all citizens of Wake County.

The association serves as the voice of the residential construction industry at the local, state and national levels. The HBA is located in Raleigh, NC and includes members in a variety of residential construction related industries and sizes. The HBA has the largest membership of any home builders association in the nation.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Workforce Development – To oversee the HBA’s Workforce Development Committee; to collaborate with local educational institutions, trade schools, and industry organizations to create a pipeline of skilled and qualified workforce for the home building sector. Education – To assist with the planning and implementation of the HBA’s educational offerings.

RELATIONSHIPS & ACCOUNTABILITY: Is directly responsible to the CEO. Performance evaluations will be based on the quality of work performed, its accuracy, timeliness, and the efficiency with which it is carried out, and the employee’s contribution to the overall effectiveness of the organization.

Accomplishment of established team and program goals will also be evaluated. In addition to working closely with the CEO, the Workforce Development and Education Coordinator will communicate, when requested, with the HBA Board of Directors on matters of workforce development, education and more. RESPONSIBILITIES: Workforce Development · Staff person in charge of organizing meetings for and implementing the directives of the HBA’s Workforce Development Committee. · Collaborate with educational institutions, community colleges, and training providers to create pathways into the construction industry. · Build and maintain relationships with industry partners, employers, and government agencies to identify workforce needs and develop solutions. · Market and promote the HBA's workforce development initiatives to the community and potential participants. · Collect and analyze data to measure the effectiveness of programs and track industry trends. · Grant writing and fundraising to support workforce development initiatives. · Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in workforce development.

Education Coordinator · Assist with the HBA’s current educational courses; including promoting classes, handling registration, proctoring classes and completing and submitting required paperwork to the North Carolina Licensing Board. · Exploring and pursing new educational offerings available to HBA and non-HBA members alike. · Help to grow the HBA’s non-dues revenue with new and innovative online educational offerings. Other · The Workforce Development and Education Coordinator must attend HBA events and serve as a positive representative of the HBA in the Raleigh & Wake County communities and surrounding area · Other duties as assigned by the CEO DESIRED SKILLS: The ideal professional for this role will possess: · Bachelor degree in business administration, workforce development or related field · Prior experience in program development, education, or workforce development. · Experience in a non-profit, including a trade association, is a plus. · Creativity and strategic thinking · Strong understanding of the residential construction industry and its workforce needs. · Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills. · Ability to develop and implement programs, manage budgets, and track data. · Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software. · Ability to work independently and as part of a team. · Strong work ethic. · Ability to develop and maintain relationships with business members · Strong organizational practices to ensure project timelines and standards are met Word and Adobe CS experience are welcome, and will be considered when choosing the best applicant for this position.
