Liberty Mutual Insurance has an excellent claims opportunity available as a Workers Compensation Claims Specialist. The Associate Claims Specialist and Claims Specialist I works within a Claims Team, using the latest technology to manage an assigned caseload of routine mild to moderate Workers Compensation claims from the investigation of the claim through resolution. This includes making decisions about liability/compensability, evaluating losses, and negotiating settlements. The role interacts with injured workers, claimants, policyholders, medical providers, attorneys, and other third parties throughout the claims management process. This position will also provide you with an opportunity to handle disputed and litigated cases. You will use your investigative and negotiation skills in a fast-paced environment while protecting the assets of the company. * We have flexibility to fill as an entry-level Associate Claims Specialist or a Claims Specialist I, based on candidate experience. While we are currently working remote, we ideally seek to fill with someone who can work in our Bala Cynwyd, PA or East Syracuse, NY office, when the time comes to return to the office a few days a week.The Workers Compensation Claims Specialist will help people resolve problems. The position offers training developed with an emphasis on enhancing skills needed to help provide exceptional service to our customers, and fair and concise settlement.Responsibilities:* Conduct investigations including, but not limited to assessing policy coverage, contacting insureds, injured workers, doctors' offices, and other parties to determine compensability and establish reserves * Set-up claims and update the loss to reflect actual circumstances * Determine the need for independent adjusters or independent medical examiners * Evaluate claim for potential fraud * Assess and reserve damages associated with claims and conduct negotiations to settle claims * Be involved with litigated claims as necessaryQualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.* 1-3 years' experience in claims adjusting along with knowledge of claims investigation techniques, Workers Compensation, insurance coverage, negotiation skills and medical terminology. * Effective written and verbal communication skills to provide information in a clear and concise manner and to communicate with a variety of individuals. * Effective analytical skills to gather information, analyze facts and make recommendations based upon information collected. * Required to obtain and maintain all applicable licenses. Liberty Mutual has an immediate opening for a Technical Claims Specialist within our Workers Compensation division. This role can be filled as a Technical Claims Specialist I or II, depending on candidate experience. In this role, under general supervision and established practices, you will be responsible for the investigation, evaluation and disposition of complex Workers Compensation (WC) cases of moderate to high exposure. The Technical Claims Specialist has developed a solid understanding of Workers Compensation claims handling techniques, generally as a result of progressing through the Case Manager job family. Job Responsibilities: * Investigates claims to determine whether coverage is provided, establish compensability and verify exposure. * Resolves claims within authority and makes recommendations regarding case value and resolution strategy to Branch Office Management on cases which exceed authority. * Works closely with staff and outside defense counsel in managing litigated files according to established litigation management protocols. * Identifies and appropriately handles suspicious claims. * Identifies and appropriately handles claims with third party subrogation and SIF potential. * Understands the MSA process and how best to maximize their value. Establishes and maintains accurate reserves on all assigned files. * Makes timely reserve recommendations to Branch Office Management on cases which exceed authority. Prepares for and attends mediation sessions and/or settlement conferences and negotiates on behalf of LMG and LMG Insureds. * Makes recommendations regarding strategy on litigated files. * Demonstrates the ability to understand key data elements and claims related data analysis. * Confers directly with policyholders on coverage and resolution strategy issues. * Establishes and updates "Action Plans" on assigned claims which clearly reflect file status and disposition strategy. * A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent business experience is required. * In addition, the candidate will generally possess 3-5 years of related claims experience. Primary experience in the jurisdictions of New York and some New Jersey is preferred. * Proficient in the use of Excel and PowerPoint. * Effective written and verbal communication skills required. * Experience with high exposure WC claims is strongly desired!
