Job Description:

Position Overview

This position is responsible for assisting with general railcar repair operations and for performing regular housekeeping and maintenance functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with various railcar repair jobs in assigned areas such as welding, painting/blasting, cleaning, and valve repair

  • Operate shop machinery and equipment

  • Perform regular housekeeping duties as required

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and minor repairs of equipment and machinery

What is expected of you and others at this level

  • Has basic skills in an analytical or scientific method or operational process

  • Works within clearly defined standard operations procedures and or scientific methods and adheres to quality guidelines

  • Works with close supervision

Minimum Qualifications & Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • 1-3 years' relevant experience required

Key Responsibilities * Assist with various railcar repair jobs in assigned areas such as welding, painting/blasting, cleaning, and valve repair * Assist with training new rail shop workers * Operate shop machinery and equipment * Prepare job cards and material depletion records * Monitor and maintain facility inventory What is expected of you and others at this level * Intermediate skills in own work area within an analytical/scientific method or operational process * Applies experience and skills to complete assigned work within own area of expertise * Works within standard operation procedures and/or scientific methods * Works with a moderate degree of supervision Minimum Qualifications & Skills * High School Diploma or GED equivalent required, Associate's Degree preferred * 2-4 years' relevant experience required * Must be able to drive for the company according to the Company's Vehicle Safety and Driver Qualification Policy at Locations where mobile work is performed * Must meet company requirements to be an insured driver * Must past DOT physical * Must have valid Driver's license * Must pass physical capabilities test (PCT) * Strong welding skills and mechanical aptitude * Railcar repair experience a strong plus This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed.
