Position Description

We are looking to hire a Workday Sr. Systems Analyst to be located at our corporate headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA. This particular role will focus on HR Technologies such as Workday, Taleo, Kronos, etc

Key Responsibilities

Business Skills

The Workday Sr. Systems Analyst is expected to have a deep understanding of business needs and how to address those needs with effective IT solutions.

  • Provide analytical and technical expertise within the HR business functions, usually as a member of a project team, in the analysis, design, development and implementation of business applications

  • Maintain awareness of current IT projects within PPG and planned projects in the HRIT group in order to promote application sharing

  • Collaborate with company customers, staff members, IT colleagues, and other stakeholders to define detailed customer requirements and system interfaces, assess available technologies, and develop and present viable solution options

  • Evaluate application software packages, as well as other alternatives and make recommendations to management

  • Extensive knowledge in cloud hosted applications

Technical Skills

Individuals in this job position must be technically proficient at an in-depth level and possess a broader knowledge of various technical areas.

  • Translate business requirements into software, communications, and equipment requirements for application development

  • Perform feasibility studies, translate requirements into an appropriate design, formulate and define application scope and objectives, and implement complete solutions

  • Prepare detailed specifications from which applications will be written

  • Propose innovative technical solutions and provide and recommend data security solutions when required

  • Assure business application systems are developed in a way that complies with architectural standards and established methodologies and practices

  • Create, modify, and test programming code themselves or provide technical consulting support on projects or system issues

  • Oversee the creation of source code, operations, and user documentation

  • Understand the procedures and expected system performance associated with applicable technologies

  • For application maintenance, respond appropriately to system maintenance requests and use their analytical abilities and technical skills to isolate problems, fix immediate needs, analyze all ramifications and implement solutions

  • Fully support department processes and procedures concerning methodology and internal auditing procedures

  • Work at an in-depth technical level while possessing a broad knowledge of various technical areas

  • Extensive experience creating and maintaining integrated cloud solutions using enterprise interface tools

Project Management Skills

The Workday Sr. Systems Analyst must be familiar with project management techniques and may have project leadership responsibilities in some instances.

  • Provide technical leadership on one or more projects and are expected to give direction to both PPG employees and contract resources. They may oversee multiple small or medium projects simultaneously while managing a single large one.

  • Participate in prioritizing resources and tasks, developing risk contingencies, adjusting project scope, interacting with purchasing, and providing management feedback

  • Identify barriers to meeting project goals, and provide solutions that keep projects on track and on budget

  • Monitor and report to management on the status of project efforts; may be held accountable for controlling project plans and costs on small or medium projects

  • Effectively assess objectives for the assigned project phases and recommend technical strategies and tactics to achieve business needs

Interpersonal Skills

The Workday Sr. Systems Analyst generally does not directly supervise others, but must have demonstrated that they can provide direction to other project team members.

  • Influence application design and project priorities

  • Good coaching skills and regularly coach other team members

  • Proactively foster and maintain good relationships with customers and IT colleagues across the organization to meet expected customer service levels

  • Share responsibility with other team members to ensure on-time product delivery, which requires a clear understanding of expectations and capabilities as well as the ability to act effectively as a team member

  • Display the requisite verbal, written, and presentation skills to effectively articulate ideas / designs to colleagues in multiple functional areas and at varying levels of technical understanding

  • Fully demonstrated the ability to mentor and direct others and that you have done so on multiple projects, some of which are outside the area of immediate expertise #LI-JB1

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience and technical training

  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in systems analysis, design, development, and implementation

  • 5 years professional experience in Workday HR Technologies

  • 3 years professional experience with payroll integrations

Skills

  • An understanding of basic concepts, terminology and practical application of current and emerging technologies

  • Extensive analytical abilities and technical skills to evaluate alternative approaches and to recommend the most feasible and economical solutions

  • Extensive analytical abilities and technical skills to isolate problems, fix immediate needs, analyze all ramifications and implement complete solutions

  • Define, organize, plan, and execute projects from vision through implementation

  • Ability to lead and effectively participate in teams

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express complex technical concepts in audience appropriate terms

  • Ability to work without close supervision, keeping focused on short and long-term objectives
