The University System of Maryland is comprised of twelve (12) higher education institutions and three (3) regional centers. Five (6) of our institutions have formed a consortium (the Maryland Connect Workday Consortium) to leverage the Workday ERP for their Human Resources and Finance functions.

Under the direction of the Workday Technical Manager, the Workday Security Lead will manage and govern the security of the Workday application for the Maryland Connect Workday Consortium by developing Workday security audit policies and procedures. This position requires configuring security changes and collaborating with other members of the Workday support team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Service Operations and Customer Support:

  • Functions as the main Workday Security Administrator BP administrator
  • Maintains Workday security change management, documentation, and quality controls.
  • Assists and coordinates with the semi-annual security evaluation, quality reviews, and testing documentation of the system upgrades, as well as new feature releases and implementation.
  • Assists system users with questions or concerns.
  • Analyzes issues and researches solutions to initiate corrective actions. Performs proper follow-ups.
  • Responsible for configuring changes to security setup within Workday.
  • Creates and maintains security models based on the key functional responsibilities of the end user.
  • Reviews and approves Workday application security requests and creates and documents proper internal security controls.
  • Assists as needed in granting security access to Workday following security protocols.
  • Manages and maintains listing of Workday security role and domain definitions.
  • Coordinates with security requestors and approvers.
  • Laises with Workday to ensure compliance with security updates and patches.
  • Laises with appropriate university data privacy leads. 

Technology Advancement and Service Planning:

  • Assists with the internal and external auditors’ requests.
  • Stays updated on new security features within the applications’ future roadmap and implements where possible.

Leadership:

  • Facilitates appropriate security-related governance group.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Education Level/Certifications:

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field. Related experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis with one year of full-time experience being equivalent to 30 college undergraduate credits.

Required Experience:

Two (2) years’ experience with Workday Security administration in a post production environment.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Solid understanding of Workday security features and controls.
  • Knowledge of SOX and data privacy regulations.
  • Working knowledge of HR/Finance information systems, data models, organization structures, and roles.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong problem solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preferred Education Level/Certifications:

Workday Pro – Security certification.

Preferred Experience:

  • HR/Finance functional experience.
  • Workday experience in a higher education environment.

Salary: $110,000 - 150,000
