What you will do:

As a Workday Developer, you will be a key resource on Workday-related application development and implementation projects. These projects focus on the implementation, configuration, customization, and enhancements of Workday to support the City of Salem's human resources, financial, payroll, and other operational processes. You will play a pivotal role in implementing the City's Workday solution, including data migration, application configuration, and development of interfaces and reports. Your work will have a direct impact to help the City take advantage of Workday functionality to improve City service delivery and streamlining core operational and administrative workflows.

You will collaborate with various stakeholders, including City departments staff, Enterprise Services technical staff, and external vendors, to ensure successful and timely delivery of projects and solutions. Your responsibilities will include assisting with data migration, configuring Workday functionality, developing Workday integrations, assisting with systems testing, and generating reports and analytics to offer business intelligence to City staff and leadership.

  • Position schedule is Monday-Friday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Our team follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office (295 Church Street, SE, Suite 210, Salem, OR 97301), as needed, based on demands of specific tasks and manager approval. This is subject to change based on business needs.

What are the minimum qualifications?

  • Must pass the pre-employment background check.
  • Must have an Oregon Driver license and have a driving record that meets the City of Salem's driving standards.
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, technology, information systems or software engineering, business or a related field and five yearsof professionallevel information technology experience including business process analysis, application design and computer programming using languages typical to the position, along with project management for small to medium sized projects, or any combination of experience and training that demonstrates possession ofthe knowledge, skills, and abilities as listed, and ability to perform the essential job functions.
  • Must pass a criminal background check necessary to obtain Criminal Justice Information System clearance and Law Enforcement Data System certification within 30 days of hire (clearance must be maintained throughout employment).
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have experienceleading projects, application design and development, working in a team environment, and/or providing support for an enterprise public utility management application.

Preferred Qualifications (Not required to apply):

  • Principles, practices, and certifications in key Workday modules (such as HCM, Financials, or Integrations), Workday implementation experience, experience developing Workday solutions, familiarity with Workday integration tools and methods (EIB, Workday Studio, API), methods and techniques of project management, troubleshooting and problem resolution of Workday solutions, application design and development tools, and computer languages and programming best practices typical to the Workday environment.
