Lang College's Associate Dean of Strategic Initiatives and Director of Curricular Initiatives is seeking a graduate assistant for 10-15 hours per week to provide administrative support for the Lang College Social Science Research & Practice Fellowship (SSF) program and for various curricular projects within Lang College. The SSF program involves Eugene Lang College students participating in internships and follow-up research working with a Ph.D. student from one of NSSRs programs as a mentor. This position includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
Serve as the key administrative contact for applicants to the fellowship program including answering routine questions, collecting additional information necessary, and scheduling interviews with the fellowship co-directors and host sites, etc.

Collect and process all fellowship applications.
Coordinate with internship host sites including getting them information about fellowship candidates, answering routine questions, and helping with any special requirements such as required background checks.

Coordinate the logistical aspects of the fellowship workshops in fall 2018 and orientation in spring 2019 including preparing materials, ordering food, reserving rooms etc.

Provide administrative support for other special initiatives run out of the Associate Dean's office.

Research and prepare materials in support of curricular projects

Proofread curriculum proposals; crosscheck proposal data with website information and university course catalog information.

Track progress of curricular initiatives.

Assist with management of academic program assessment data.

Compile, transform, and analyze data using Microsoft Excel and Google Suite

Organize materials for Civic Liberal Arts, Langs signature curricular program

Assist as special projects arise

As a Research Scientist in Ethical AI you'll be part of a team that's pushing the boundaries on our understanding of sociotechnical systems. Our research reaches the user through both services and products such as Search, Maps, Google Assistant, Google Translate, Google Cloud and our computing, storage, and networking infrastructure. To achieve this, we're working on a wide variety of projects that utilize the latest state-of-the-art technologies that push the boundaries of what is possible. Minimum qualifications: * PhD with a focus on sociotechnical systems in sociology, anthropology, media studies, communication studies, related field, or equivalent practical experience. * 2 years of experience working in critical race theory, gender, science and technology studies, policy or law, human rights, history of technology or similar. Preferred qualifications: * Experience working with multiple research methodologies, including both qualitative (ethnographic, archival, interview-based) and quantitative (survey-based, statistical, computational) methods. * Experience in analyzing multiple modalities of data. * Ability to design and execute on research agenda. * Excellent prioritization and multitasking capabilities. * Excellent communication skills across multiple teams. * Investigate and identify critical ethical issues where artificial intelligence meets society. * Identify product vulnerabilities and recommend detection/prevention strategy adjustments based on trends and patterns. * Innovate and assist in implementing large-scale quality improvements to processes and/or systems by making recommendations, troubleshooting potential social issues. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
