Department Summary

The Scheduler (Maintenance & Construction) position supports Energy Operations and requires monitoring, planning and scheduling of gas and electric workloads, working with union employees, Field Leaders, Team Leaders, Statewide Planning.

Job Responsibilities

  • Applicant must be willing to travel and work flexible hours as needed for storm restoration and scheduling coverage.

  • Responsibility involves coordination of materials with Supply Chain, coordination of equipment and vehicles with Fleet Services, the assigning and tracking workload, interpreting monthly work plans when create weekly schedules, conducting weekly meetings, and supporting the storm operations.

  • Additional responsibilities will include supporting the CE Way through problem solving and waste elimination initiatives.

  • Storm support is also a requirement of the role and may include dispatching / ARCOS support / wire guard support, or any other tasks needed to support storm operations.

  • Employee will be required to become efficient with OMS (Outage Management Systems) and any other additional storm support systems as needed.

  • This position also requires excellent communication skills, customer service, teamwork, the ability to read construction prints, understanding order types, capital and O&M, intermediate Excel skills, and the ability to create and present PowerPoint presentations.

This position may be located at the Flint or Saginaw, MichiganService Center and will involve travel to the Saginaw,MichiganWMC as needed for meetings or scheduling/dispatch support.

Required Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma OR GED.

Preferred Qualifications

  • College level courses or a degree in a scientific or technical field.

  • Natural Gas or Electric Utility experience.

  • Operations scheduling experience.

  • SAP (back office) and basic CRM7 (front office).

  • Knowledgeable in Service Suite (OMAR).

  • Proficient Microsoft Excel and basic PowerPoint skills.

  • Storm support experience.

Essential Functions

  • Performs technical support functions and more complex tasks including establishing workload and organizing and conducting assignments according to deadlines.

  • Sets up tech support systems including record maintenance, data submission, and project management.

  • Provides backup department support.

  • Prepares reports, and tech support material as directed from time to time.

  • Maintains confidentiality.

  • Performs or establishes procedures for tech support functions and actions including records, tracking of information, maintaining logs/spreadsheet, and other similar technical support.

  • Under general direction, prepares special or one-time reports, summaries, or replies to inquiries, selecting relevant information from a variety of sources such as reports, documents, correspondence, other areas of the Company, etc.

  • Ensures that requests for action or information are relayed to appropriate staff members; ensures that information is furnished in a timely manner; decides whether a higher authority should be notified of important or emergency matters.

  • Periodically evaluates process and program effectiveness and takes action to maintain continuous improvement.

  • Follows all safety rules and procedures and contributes to the safety of co-workers and the general public.

  • Have aptitude and ability to learn and perform the duties of the job including learning new designs reflecting new equipment.

  • Successfully be able to evaluate design alternatives to determine safest and most economical designs.

  • Willing and able to follow instruction, assist in training of co-workers, and cooperate with other employees and customers.

  • Performs responsibilities in a manner that clearly shows effective communication and cooperation and that promotes open exchange of information, respect, high ethical standards and professionalism.

  • Maintains work areas in a clean and orderly manner.

Position Summary This position is in Customer Service Dispatch and Scheduling within Energy Operations Services. It involves the scheduling, routing and dispatching of Electric Meter Operations (EMO) and/or Electric Service Workers (ESW) utilizing SAP, Service Suite, and ARCOS systems. The position requires daily direct communication with EMO/ESW service workers and Field Leaders, Electric Dispatchers, and Designers so excellent communication skills are mandatory. People in this position must frequently work with various internal departments including, but not limited to, the Business Center, Billing, Revenue Recovery, Call Center, Smart Energy Operations, and the Meter Technology Center so the applicant should demonstrate an understanding of these operations. An individual in this position will perform task-based work such as order creation, availability management, etc., manage projects, and coordinate jobs with customers/electricians, field leaders, service workers, designers, and other scheduling groups to meet targets, commitments, and provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers. Teamwork is a vital part of this position as it is a requirement to provide back-up for other EMO/ESW Technical Specialists. Job Description/Responsibilities * The successful candidate will be required to manage multiple projects, develop solutions to complex problems, meet deadlines and targets, and make independent decisions in a team environment. * Must demonstrate the ability to handle work of a complex and changing nature, and keep others informed of progress. * This position will require an individual to be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. * Preference will be given to candidates who are able to demonstrate a working knowledge of company information systems including ARCOS, SAP, Service Suite, and SharePoint. This position will be located at the Flint Service Center.
