HuffPost is a Pulitzer Prize-winning source of breaking news, video, features, and entertainment, as well as a highly engaged global community for opinion and conversation. The site launched its first international edition in May 2011.
HuffPost Life is seeking an eager, curious reporter who wants to develop and own a new beat: the way we work now. This role will coincide with the launch of a new section that will examine everything from sexual politics at work to money and pay issues, generational divides to innovative companies and ideas.
News about work-adjacent issues dominates the headlines, whether gender pay gaps, HR crises, or stagnating real wages. This role would take a different approach: by examining work like we cover all other parts of life, using news as inspiration for timely service topics. The right person will be as comfortable writing a profile of a new way of working in our modern economy as they would writing a reported column or a service piece on negotiating a higher salary.
In other words, we're looking for someone who is eager to upend conventional wisdom about work.
Develop and write interesting stories about work and our culture. The right person will be bursting with ideas we haven't seen elsewhere.
Cultivate sources who represent all sectors of the economy: CEOs, freelancers, interns, managers, people seeking work and everyone in between.
Stay on top of workplace trends and news that affect our lives.
Package compelling ideas for the web, social media and mobile platforms.
3+ years of experience reporting and writing
Must have a curious mind with a long list of ideas on modern work life
Be adept at mining and using social media platforms including Instagram, Twitter and Facebook
Able to nail interviews with experts, advisors, and people with stories to tell
Able to work at a fast pace and contribute to a large, tight-knit team
Keen sense for mixing video, print, images and other assets to produce engaging storytelling experiences
Strong headline skills
This position is in the WGA-E bargaining unit
