Job Duties and Responsibilities
DISH is building one of the first nationwide greenfield wireless networks that the industry has seen in years. We are building a team of Field Engineers to support this effort. The RF Field & Optimization Engineer II is responsible for implementing the NB-IOT Radio Frequency system design and for maintaining NB-IOT radio system's performance. This position can accommodate working remotely.
Primary responsibilities fall into the following categories:
Provide support for all radio sites in the assigned region by hands-on hardware troubleshooting.
Performs system coverage and capacity drive tests and recommends site and system parameter settings to best optimize the systems' coverage, performance, and capacity.
Serves as a deployment region's technical subject matter expert on RF deployment matters.
Audits testing methodology used by DISH's civil construction firms to ensure accuracy on PIM or VSWR sweep test results of antenna systems.
May require up to 40% of domestic overnight travel and occasional trips to the Englewood Colorado Headquarters.
Works with the operations team to troubleshoot site network problems.
Reviews fault or performance data to assist with determining cause of faulty equipment.
Updates trouble ticketing databases with resolution or actions taken.
Skills - Experience and Requirements
The Successful Engineer II will have:
3+ years working in and around the radio frequency industry designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting network issues
3+ years of experience with various drive test units
3+ years of experience analyzing data and creating coverage solutions
Solid understanding of RF propagation principles, cellular theory, RF engineering tools and antenna theory
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
Proficient MapInfo or similar tools and cellular industry-specific tools such as Atoll, Siterra, Site Tracker or equivalent tools
The ability to work independently is critical, must be able to work under pressure and prioritize work schedule and workload
