Job Description

We are seeking an Associate Designer to support the development & execution of Vuori's product assortment, focusing on Knit Tops, Fleece, Dresses, Jumpsuits & Bodysuits. This individual will be responsible for aiding in the design process including, but not limited to: concept research & design, BOM development, fabric selection, trim selection, fitting, and finessing product. To be effective in this role, the individual must be eager to learn and support the team in any way needed, have an eye for elevated fashion, and have an understanding of Vuori's aesthetic language and handwriting. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about the performance apparel space, Vuori's mission and will embody the brand's values.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Execute specific design development projects as assigned by the designer (may include but not limited to; construction briefs, material briefs, trim inspiration & brief creation, etc.)

  • Research preseason trend, style inspiration, and trim; maintaining an understanding of the cultural and competitive market trends as they relate to the Vuori customer & creating trend decks & inspiration tools as needed.

  • Support senior designer in sourcing fabrics alongside cross functional partners, ensuring they are through the lens of the brand as well as within trend, quality and budget guidelines

  • Attend and assist in fittings, taking notes as needed.

  • Ability to respond to business objectives with creative, innovative, and cost-effective design solutions.

  • Support women's design team with seasonal tech pack creation & updates.

  • Aid in visual process; owning comments on prototypes and seasonal submits.

  • Schedule seasonal print shopping appointments

  • Manage contracted print partnerships & meetings around print development and execution, ensuring timeliness and organization

  • Exemplify strong understanding of brand identity & partner closely with Senior Designer in designing and sketching across multiple categories

  • Support design team for seasonal product presentations & sales meetings.

  • Responsible for PLM system updates and general assortment updates for all tools.

  • Assistance & attendance in domestic travel for inspiration sample shopping and trend research.

  • Maintain strong communication alongside the Senior Designer with external vendors throughout the design and development process

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years of experience within design/product development.

  • Performance apparel experience a plus.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.'

  • Ability to successfully work in a team environment.

  • Responsible for meeting deadlines and staying organized.

  • Evolved level technical knowledge of knit apparel constructions.

  • Strong ability to sketch or to communicate design & inspiration ideas via computer programs.

  • Ability to respond to business objectives with creative, innovative, and cost-effective design solutions.

  • Strong understanding of apparel market and trends & ability to translate trends through the lens of the customer & brand filters

  • Strong knowledge & skills of PLM, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft PowerPoint, Office and Excel.

  • Strong flat sketching skills

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must live in the San Diego area or be willing to relocate.

Additional Information

Pay Range: $72,000-$85,000/yr
