The selected candidate will research innovation topics, including designing, implementing, and verifying proof-of-concept prototypes. Research topics include areas, such as: Device Trust, Distributed & Decentralized Networking, Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technology in wireless networks, Converged Computing and Communications, and AI-enabled Networking & Services.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Work in a team to develop innovative networking protocols, services, and solutions for future 6G distributed communications and computing systems and devices.

• Responsible for researching various innovation topics, documenting work which may include design & protocol descriptions, block diagrams, sequence diagrams, source code, test procedures, and simulation results.

• Design, implement, and test novel wireless network solutions, protocol software, user-interfaces, and applications, including utilizing InterDigital's AdvantEDGE, open edge networking emulator: https://github.com/InterDigitalInc/AdvantEDGE

• Review, analyze, and write research publications, networking standards, and standards contributions including 3GPP, ETSI, IEEE, IETF, etc. - individually and in team settings.

Experience and qualifications:

• Recent PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields.

• Knowledge in wireless protocols (3GPP, IEEE 802.11, etc.)

• Knowledge in networking concepts and protocols (e.g., IP, TCP, HTTP, VLAN, etc.)

• Programming experience in one or more of the following:

• Proficient in Go, Java and/or web-programming (JavaScript, REST, JSON, HTML, etc.).

• Proficient in scripting languages (e.g., Python)

• Proficient in C or C++

• Proficient MATLAB is a plus.

• Expertise in Security, including network security, cryptography, authentication, and identity management (including decentralized, self-sovereign identities).

• Expertise in Distributed Ledger Technology, Blockchain, and Smart Contracts.

• Experienced with patent creation, including being a lead inventor on patent applications.

• Publications in top conferences and journals.

• Previous internship experience is a plus.
