What you'll be doing...

The East Territory Transport Planning team is looking for a Network Engineer to support our network growth and capacity strategies. This position will primarily provide support for One Fiber and VZT (In Franchise) fiber programs. In this role the Network Engineer will participate in efforts improve/automate processes, to audit databases for accuracy, produce reports and/or dashboards, and work with the field teams to address/rectify any identified issues. This would include meeting periodically with various Transport Planning Teams including HQ, Territories and Sub-Markets to ensure a consistent approach to managing the data and ensuring program success.

The ideal candidate has demonstrated leadership of indirect teams and is recognized as a strategic thought leader. Candidate should have the ability to build relationships and lead cross functional teams. Must be able to act as a communication bridge between HQ, Territory and submarket stakeholders, with the ability to engage, understand and respond to business objectives and needs in a rapidly changing environment.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Four or more years of experience in wireless industry with focus on transport networks.

  • Knowledge of Site Traker, FUZE SPM, FUZE 1F, and Granite.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office/G-suite applications.

  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree

  • Experience creating reports/dashboards in Tableau or similar applications.

  • Project management/forecasting experience.

The infrastructure consists of a variety of wired and wireless networks, including Corporate Office, Remote Offices, Warehouse, Retail Stores, etc. The candidate must have a solid understanding of computer network standards, protocols, security. They will administer, maintain, develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of the company computer network infrastructure. They will develop and implement data models and designs and resolve any performance issues. They will ultimately be responsible for the overall execution of all functions associated with the administration of computer networks. Responsibilities: 1. Establishing the networking environment by designing system configuration, directing system installation, defining, documenting and enforcing system standards; 2. The design and implementation of new solutions and improving resilience of the current environment; 3. Maximizing network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating with network architects on network optimization; 4. Undertaking data network fault investigations in local and wide area environments, using information from multiple sources; 5. Securing network systems by establishing and enforcing policies, and defining and monitoring access; 6. Perform support and administration of firewall environments in line with IT security policy; 7. Working with Security Engineer and vendors on Network Security issues; Perform configurations of Firewalls; Perform configuration of Software Defined Perimeter Solutions, Perform configurations of SD-WAN VPN Clouds. 8. Reporting network operational status by gathering and prioritizing information and managing projects; 9. Upgrading data network equipment to the latest stable firmware releases; 10. Perform configuration of routing and switching equipment; 11. Perform configuration of hosted IP voice services; 12. Remote support of on-site engineers and end users/customers during installation; 13. Capacity management, planning, and audit of IP addressing and hosted devices; 14. Disaster Recovery Planning, Testing, and Execution 15. Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations; 16. Working with project management teams, third-line engineers and service desk engineers on a regular basis; 17. Be available for 24x7 Support 18. Manage 3rd Party Service Providers to include: Teleco, ISPs, Managed Service Providers Working Relationships: Under supervision of Manager this position will be responsible for the maintenance of Company's Network infrastructure. It will require the development and implementation of Network standards throughout the Company's IT department. This position will have contact will all levels throughout the Company as well as outside vendors and auditors to manage and coordinate the safeguarding of our computer networks. In addition, the position will work closely with System Administrators and IT Security to ensure proper network functioning. Requirements JOB REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Education: BS Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or related technical field Preferred Education: Master's Degree in Computer Sciences / related field or equivalent experience Minimum/Preferred Experience: • Experience with networking equipment such as Aruba switches, Extreme Networks, Fortinet, Cryptzone, Mako equipment. • Extensive working knowledge of IP routing protocols including OSPF, ISIS, MPLS/LDP, and BGP • Preferred experience with Cloud technology and Virtual Networks • Experience in network and systems security, not only a key understanding of overall concepts, but also the ability to implement policies, processes and develop solutions to network and security problems. Experience working with PCI compliance highly desirable. • Hands on experience with Software-Defined Perimeter (SDP) solutions such as Cryptzone AppGate • Experience with Fortinet Firewalls and Switches highly desirable • Ability to document processes, procedures and network designs clearly and accurately -- not only within our group to share the knowledge and understanding of our own systems, but also for distribution to other internal teams and to our customers. • Understanding of Public Key Infrastructure and encryption. • Exposure to and experience in software defined Networking technology including Cisco ACI and VMware NSX is a plus • Solid understanding of IT Systems and Security fundamentals. Experience in managing projects with specific enterprise networking focus. • Experience in organizing and prioritizing one's own workload and working in an environment where substantial latitude over one's work schedule is granted. Experience in effective oral and written communications methods.
