The Wire Transfer Team Lead provides leadership within their assigned wire operational process focus area. Responsible for coordinating the daily activities of assigned staff and serves as an escalation point.
Ensures that assigned staff maintains compliance with policy, procedure, and regulation. Assists the Wire Transfer Manager and Assistant Wire Transfer Manager whenever necessary.
Provides guidance and direction to assigned team members for related process flows. Answer phone calls from employees and customers frequently throughout the day; provides second level support to wire transfer specialists.
Trains wire transfer employees on the wire transfer system for related process flows. Ensures compliance with dictated legislation such as Dodd Frank, provisions of the Bank Secrecy Act and other applicable regulations and record keeping requirements. Ensures all records are kept, retained, and accessed properly.
Accepts and inputs wire orders from various channels, evaluates according to defined risk indicators, and performs validation of the wire transfer. Serves as an escalation point for wire transfer specialists related to areas of risk and customer engagement. Exercises independent judgement to hold wire transfers for validation.
Monitors wire activity for potential risk factors and ensures all risk management guidelines are followed and acts accordingly. Works closely with the branch staff, lenders, and fraud department to report and resolve fraud related issues. Based upon periodic review of wire transfers, provides coaching to team members.
Provides recommendations to management for fraud analytic adjustments. Follows strict security and operational control procedures for the wire transfer systems. Reviews key performance indicators and provides coaching to team members to meet operational benchmarks.
Updates and maintains department procedure for related process flows. Participates in business resiliency function on all wire transfer applications and facilitates quarterly back up site testing. Documents the results for audit purposes.
Assists with project implementations, upgrades, and acquisitions; participates with QA and UAT testing. Processes fed funds and correspondent bank reporting. Performs other duties as needed.
Bachelor's degree required (Business or related field strongly preferred) OR combination of equivalent relevant work experience and High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
3 or more years of progressive experience in wire transfer; additional experience in banking operations a plus.
Experience with SWIFT messaging system preferred.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work both independently and with a team.
Persistent and diligent in follow through on pending tasks and standing tasks.
Strong leadership skills for team interaction and internal and external client base.
Excellent computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products (specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and the ability to learn and utilize custom banking systems and applications.
Strong analytical, time management, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task and work in a deadline-driven environment.
Must have proven performance working in and through stressful situations.
Must be able to follow established work days and holidays published by the Federal Reserve, regardless of weather conditions.
