Job Summary:

The primary role of the Wine Sales Supervisor is to assist the Stave Wine Cellar Manager with operating a high quality and comprehensive Wine Bar and Bottle Shop.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Manager to achieve budgeted revenues while monitoring costs of sales and operational costs including shipping, packaging and other operational supplies.

  • Maintain front of house and back of house POS and inventory management systems.

  • Act as primary point of contact for clients looking to book private events at Stave, including menu and budget development as well as provide internal coordination with impacted departments such as Culinary and Banquets.

  • Contribute to menu development for Staves food offerings as well as develop recipes and plating guides

  • Direct outbound shipping activities including coordinating with clients, processing shipments, packing shipments, transferring to loading dock, and maintaining shipping material par levels.

  • Maintain monthly wine club. Duties include charging clients, formatting wine descriptions, maintaining member list, coordinating with members regarding receipts and shipping or pickup of wines.

  • Execute wine classes and tastings, including maintaining the list of attendees, processing payment, printing take-away materials and preparing the room for each event.

  • Provide supervisory support with all the following managerial duties:

  • Maintain and organize wine presentations on the sales floor and in the back of the house.

  • Monitor inventory levels of wine, beer and food and alert Manager of items that are at a low par level.

  • Greet and assist customers with product information and needs.

  • Provide personal shopping assistance for guests in the lounge, as well as phone and email inquiries.

  • Maintain client database and relationships, develop new client base through follow up correspondence and world class service.

  • Collect and understand customers wine preferences and regularly offer wines that might be of interest.

  • Use guest feedback through comment cards, personal or staff interaction, to ensure service levels and departmental direction are the benchmark for the industry.

  • Ensure accurate and timely inventory submission to Accounting. Responsible for taking of and reconciling physical inventory with counts, costs, promotions and loss.

  • Process of all invoices, transfers and merchandise loss to accounting on daily basis.

  • Resolve all guest issues in a timely manner. Inform Manager of all incidents and their resolution. Keep accurate records of such incidents.

  • Inform Manager of all issues regarding sales, general operations, inventory challenges or other potential issues.

  • Monitor the condition of the facility. Report housekeeping items to the Manager.

  • Uphold all Pebble Beach Company regulations regarding Code of Conduct and employment policies.

Absolutely Required Skills:

  • Excellent sales and customer service skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, POS, EATEC, IG with a strong knowledge of Excel.

  • Two years beverage industry experience with an emphasis on wine and spirits.

  • Certified Level Sommelier Preferred, Introductory Level Required.

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
