Ponte Family Estate Winery opened in 2003 and is a California based company operating in the heart of the Temecula Wine Country. We have been farming our vineyards since 1984 and are a real working winery, growing and producing over 20 estate grown varietals within certified sustainable facilities.

We are located right next to our Four Diamond, 90 room, boutique hotel Ponte Vineyard Inn, and are surrounded by 300 acres of mature vineyards and views of rolling hills. We are a short drive from most of Southern California and enjoy hosting folks who want a break from city life. Our guests visit us seeking a relaxing day or overnight stay in the country.

Summary

This position oversees daily operations, including the responsibility of opening and closing the Tasting Room department twice a week. Additionally, they will serve as front-of-house wine club staff member, adept at addressing in-person guest inquiries and fulfilling the needs of Wine Club members. Collaboration with the Wine Club Manager is key to achieving organizational objectives and ensuring smooth operations. The ideal candidate is committed to utilizing their expertise to drive the overall success and expansion of the wine club.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have the Following:

  • Has an education in wine sales or 5 year's experience in a sales and Hospitality leadership position.

  • Thrives in a fast-paced direct-to-consumer sales environment, specializing in wine sales and memberships.

  • Consistently meets objectives in sales, service, and revenue benchmarks.

  • Act as a Brand Ambassador for the Wine Club department focusing on new memberships sales and active member retention.

  • Understands retail pricing, margins, merchandising, inventory, cash handling, basic accounting, and above-average math.

  • Accurately uses Outlook, Excel, and Word, and can program multiple POS systems, to create and manage budgets and operations.

  • Supervises daily operations and opens and closes the Tasting Room department twice a week in a front-of-house role.

  • Answers consistent, heavy call volume from members and guests, enters data in various software, and resolves calls to the member's satisfaction.

  • Knows, understands, and can explain the details of the wine club including how it works, benefits, wines, shipments and pricing, terms and conditions.

  • Sell wine, merchandise, and memberships by phone and email to meet department goals while supervising staff.

  • Work in both indoor and outdoor tasting rooms in inclement weather while lifting, lowering, pushing, using stairs, ramps, and or carrying up to 45 pounds.

  • Willing to perform any other task as assigned by the department Manager.

Compensation: $25.00 - $27.00 DOE

Schedule:

  • Tuesday- Saturday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

  • Weekends and holidays

  • Occasional evening Member events

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Lead and supervise a team of wine club associates, providing guidance, training, and support under the direction of the Wine Club Manager.

  • Conduct regular team meetings with the Wine Club Manager to communicate goals, share updates, and address any challenges.

  • Collaborate with the Wine Club Manager to oversee the membership program, focusing on acquisition, retention, and engagement strategies.

  • Regularly communicate with wine club members, providing updates, exclusive offers, and personalized recommendations.

  • Work closely with the Wine Club Manager to plan and execute special events, ensuring seamless logistics, invitations, and promotional materials.

  • Work with the Wine Club Manager to develop and implement promotions and marketing materials in collaboration with the marketing team.

  • Analyze sales data and member feedback with the Wine Club Manager to enhance the wine club offering.

  • Assist with monthly departmental reports for the online store, shipping, and cancellation records.

  • Perform phone sales of wine and wine club memberships, including upgrading member shipments.

  • Act as the 1st point of contact with Wine Club Members when in-person requests or needs arise in the Tasting Room.

  • Collaborate with the Tasting Room Manager to increase Wine Club sales in the Tasting Room and consistently keep Wine Club members happy.

  • Ensure exemplary customer service for wine club members, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and maintaining a positive member experience. Consult with the Wine Club Manager for guidance on complex matters.

  • Work closely with the tasting room, hotel, restaurant, and special events teams to ensure member satisfaction is consistently maintained at elevated levels.

  • Answer the main Ponte telephone line and respond to wine club emails.

  • Complete daily wine club tasks accurately and enter wine club applications and forms with attention to detail.

  • Assist the Wine Club Manager with managing wine inventory of low-stock shipment wines and organizing pickups.

  • Supervises and provides support in the Reserve Room and Tasting Room regarding Wine Club-related issues when necessary.

  • Manage and provide backup for Wine Club, Online Store, and Shipping Coordinators as directed by the Wine Club Manager.

  • Assist in organizing wine club events and attending monthly meetings.

  • Meet individual and departmental sales goals and budgets as guided by the Wine Club Manager.

Safety Standards:

  • Ensure the safety of guests and associates

  • Fully understand and comply with all federal, state, and county regulations that pertain to alcohol consumption safety and labor requirements of the Tasting Room, Reserve Room, and Deck.

  • Ensure the safety of guests and associates by maintaining a clean, safe, and secure Tasting Room, Reserve Room, and Deck are compliant with all required OSHA and Cal/OSHA regulations, maintenance, and inspections.

  • Understand and be able to execute Tasting Room, Reserve Room, and Deck emergency response procedures, and provide calm, reassuring assistance to guests and fellow associates in the event of an emergency.
