The Enterprise Core Services team is responsible for the foundational services used internally at Facebook. The team focuses on delivering highly-available services using well-known, industry standard solutions when practical.

A primary goal of the team is to continue to evolve the deployment and management of these services to follow standard Facebook practices and ensure security and scalability. The services we manage include authentication and directory services, public key infrastructure, email, load balancing, and virtual desktop services, among others.

WINDOWS SYSTEMS ENGINEER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and deploy highly available infrastructure services that Facebook employees depend on

Build, scale, and secure traditional services using innovative solutions

Automate where possible, implement and improve processes where necessary

Participate in org-wide incident review and remediation

Leverage the scale and complexity of the larger facebook.com infrastructure to solve problems for IT's customers

Be the final escalation point for issues related to core Windows infrastructure

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline or equivalent experience
    8+ years system administration experience

4+ years experience in PowerShell scripting

2+ years experience working with monitoring and configuration management tools such as Chef and DSC

Experience in configuring and maintaining of applications such as Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, IIS, Apache, MS SQL, MS Exchange, Postfix, Squid, MySQL, and SNMP

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience scripting in other languages such as Ruby, Python, or PHP

Virtualization and block storage experience

VIEW JOBS 4/7/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-07-06T00:00 Role We are currently looking for a highly-motivated, dependable, and experienced VMware administrator with Windows Server admin experience to join our team. You will be responsible for design, implementation, and administration of production VMWare clusters in multi-site locations. Extensive knowledge in VMware products and administration, Windows Server (2008 through 2016). Must have strong skills in capacity planning, performance monitoring, optimization, and troubleshooting. Responsibilities * Should have advanced proficiency with VMware 6.x products, including ESXi, vSphere, vCenter, VM Replication, VMotion, VM Backup and Recovery. * Maintain systems running Windows Server 2003, 2008 R2, 2012 R2, and 2016 as per configuration procedures and documented standards. * Implement and troubleshoot with working knowledge of VLANs, tiered network architecture, DNS. * Install new software releases, system upgrades, install patches and resolves software related problems. * Plan and perform appropriate procedures, documentation, inventory assessment, and other procedures related to IT. * Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions, as required. * Implement changes to the production environment as per the change management guidelines. * Respond to outages within the SLA/OLA timelines and provide detailed post mortem reports. * Perform proactive analysis of infrastructure capacity and performance. * Develop process automation through scripting or programming. * Work collaboratively with other staff. * Initiate preventive maintenance on operating systems as well as manage repair of system/environment problems. * Document tasks, procedures, environments for setting up and maintaining systems. * Analyze system faults and troubleshoot and run diagnostic tests on operating systems and hardware to detect problems. * Solid understanding of best practices and the ability to implement them. * Must participate in 24/7 on-call rotation. Requirements * BS in Computer Science or related field and 5+ years experience as VMware/Windows admin, plus VMware and/or Microsoft certifications. * Experience in mission-critical operations, ideally within a 24x7 large scale distributed and clustered environment. * Effective verbal and written communications skills.
