Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Windows System Administrator to become a part of Peratons' Department of State (DoS) Diplomatic Security Cyber Mission (DSCM) program providing leading cyber and technology security experience to enable innovative, effective and secure business processes. Location: Beltsville, MD.

Peraton's DSCM program encompasses technical, engineering, data analytics, cyber security, management, operational, logistical and administrative support to aid and advise DoS Diplomatic Security Cyber Operations.

This includes protecting a global cyber infrastructure comprising networks, systems, information, and mobile devices all while identifying and responding to cyber risks and threats. Those supporting Peraton's DSCM program strive to leverage their expert knowledge and propose creative solutions to real-world cybersecurity challenges.

In this role, you will:

  • Administer and maintain Windows server environments, ensuring optimal performance and high availability.

  • Oversee Active Directory management, including user accounts, network rights, and access controls.

  • Install, configure, and maintain network infrastructure, cybersecurity systems, workstations, servers, system hardware, and software in compliance with Department of State standards.

  • Conduct regular security audits, patch management, and vulnerability assessments to maintain system integrity.

  • Develop and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity and availability.

  • Manage and provision virtualized environments and storage resources to support business operations.

  • Maintain a Standard Operating Environment (SOE) for Windows desktops and servers, adhering to DOS standards.

  • Enhance and administer enterprise monitoring tools to proactively track the health and performance of cybersecurity tools, networks, and services.

  • Provide timely service restoration and implement corrective actions for documented issues, escalating as necessary.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to design and deploy new applications and system enhancements.

  • Automate routine administrative tasks using PowerShell and other scripting languages to improve efficiency.

  • Accurately document, monitor, and track all incidents and resolutions using a government-furnished ITSM tool.

  • Diagnose and resolve system incidents, problems, and events, maintaining clear communication with users on status and resolutions.

  • Deliver technical support and training to end-users and internal teams, fostering a knowledgeable user base.

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and change management activities.

  • Conduct comprehensive vulnerability management, including identifying, assessing, and mitigating security vulnerabilities within the Windows server environment to ensure robust protection against potential threats.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelors degree and 6 years of relevant experience. An additional 4 years of relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of the degree requirement.

  • Possess ONE of the following certifications below: CASP+ CE; CCNA Cyber Ops; CCNA-Security; CCNP Security; CEH; CFR; CISA; CISSP (or Associate); Cloud+; CySA+; GCED; GCIA; GCIH; GICSP; SCYBER; VCA DCV

  • Background and experience to be able to perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.

  • Skilled at performing analysis at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.

  • Proficient with performing functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

  • U.S.citizenship

  • An active Secret security clearance, with the ability to obtain a Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility.

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
