Location: 400 South Fort Harrison Avenue, Clearwater, FL 33756 and Remote

Schedule: Hybrid position with some in office work required.

The Business Technology Services' Division of Infrastructure Services is seeking a highly motivated and directed, forward-thinking, problem-solving professional Windows Server Analyst to join our specialized Server and Storage Team. Our Server and Storage team is responsible for cross agency network environment in support of critical systems for our employees and citizens, with minimal downtime. As the Windows Server Analyst you would perform professional technical work which requires advanced analytical and technical assignments serving our infrastructure teams, Pinellas County affiliates, departments, and organizations to assist with maintaining and growing technologies and ensuring business value outcomes. Do you have expert level experience with Microsoft Windows Server, AWS, Microsoft Azure, PKI/Certificate and Microsoft Active Directory? Do you enjoy performing installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, security, administration, account management and resolution of software and hardware issues as well as develop new system designs? Have you demonstrated substantial skill and technical expertise with Microsoft products, networking, and IT infrastructure?

As a Windows Server Analyst, you will be responsible for analyzing, designing, and optimizing Microsoft Windows Server-based infrastructure to meet business requirements and performance objectives within the organization. You will collaborate with IT teams, business stakeholders, and vendors to assess system needs, identify opportunities for improvement, and recommend solutions for enhancing system efficiency, reliability, and security. Your role involves evaluating system performance, analyzing technical requirements, and providing expertise on Windows Server technologies and best practices.

What Would You Do?

  • Windows Server Administration: Manage and maintain Windows Server operating systems across multiple environments, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.

  • Performance Optimization: Monitor server performance and identify areas for optimization, implementing solutions to improve efficiency and reliability.

  • Security Management: Implement and maintain security best practices for Windows Server environments, including patch management, access controls, and vulnerability assessments. Implements system upgrades and patches.

  • Backup and Disaster Recovery: Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans for Windows Server systems, ensuring data integrity and availability in the event of a system failure or disaster.

  • Technical Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for Windows Server-related issues, responding to, and resolving incidents in a timely manner.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of server configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps, as well as generate reports on server performance and security metrics.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with other IT team members, including network engineers, system administrators, and security analysts, to ensure seamless integration and operation of Windows Server systems within the overall IT infrastructure. Maintains and builds positive relationships within the BTS Team and with members of other County Agencies and Vendors. Support project teams, with the ability to lead complex efforts.

  • Utilize industry best practices, champion the adoption of new technologies while working through appropriate channels and processes.

  • Provides technical mentoring as needed to ensure that single points of failure are eliminated.

  • Stays on the cutting edge of relevant technology by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.

  • Accomplishes organizational goals by taking ownership of assignments and driving issues to a successful close, even when accountability for those issues crosses organizational boundaries.

  • Perform operational procedures and support including administration, maintenance, performance monitoring/optimization, capacity planning, space management and recovery.

  • Performs request, configuration, and management of storage both locally and across a SAN.

  • Set user privileges within the NTFS environment.

  • Technical troubleshooting of hardware, software, and operating systems.

What Do You Need To Have?

Experience:

  • Proven experience in Windows Server administration in enterprise environments, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting Windows Server 2016, and/or Windows Server 2019/2022 Active Directory administration.

  • Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and other core Windows Server services.

  • Experience with cloud platforms AWS, Microsoft Azure, Strong knowledge of Cloud IaaS experience Group Policy design and administration.

  • VM environment experience (VMware or Hyper-V).

  • Customer service and 1 year of team leadership or supervision in these areas.

Education Options:

  • At least 6 years of experience as described above, including 1 year of team leadership or supervision in these areas.

  • Associate degree in information technology, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, and at least 4 years of experience as described above.

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, and at least 2 years of experience as described above.

  • Master's or higher degree in Computer Science, Information technology, or related field, and 1 year of experience as described above.

  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.

Additional Requirements

  • Possession and maintenance of a valid State of Florida Driver's License.

  • Must successfully obtain and maintain Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Level 4 - CJIS Security & Awareness Certification.

  • Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.

  • Candidate to demonstrate competence and/or possess certifications in one or more specific IT functions: MCSA or MCSE

  • Must be within 1.5-hour drive of Clearwater / Tampa, FL area for hands on support with equipment.

  • Must be able to maintain 24x7 availability and be willing to provide after-hours support as needed.

Highly Desirable

  • VMware experience, Windows Server clustering.

  • WSUS management, SCCM, Intune. Exchange server management. IIS Web services.

  • Print server services. DFS and replication administration.

  • Scripting and programming in PowerShell, bash, batch, or other programming languages.

  • Ability to mentor teammates, lead teams, and facilitate groups to achieve success with others.

  • Desire to self-develop relevant job-related skill(s) for current and future roles. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex server issues.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Relevant certifications such as (Microsoft Certified Windows Server) are preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Hands-on experience supporting the following: Windows 10, 2012R2, 2016, 2019, 2022.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 deployment and administration.

  • Experience with Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) and SCCM.

  • Experience working with antivirus protection products (Microsoft End Point Protection, ATP, or similar solutions).

  • Experience with providing user support and conducting user software and hardware training to formulate technology solutions and ensure the effective safeguarding and sharing of enterprise data.

  • Experience and knowledge of wireless communication systems and protocols

  • Experience with virtualization technologies including server and desktop virtualization (VMware vSphere/ESX, View preferred).

  • Knowledge of server to network interfaces, TCP/IP protocols, TCP/IP routing, IP switching, DNS and DHCP.

  • Experience working in a highly structured, process driven facility (ITIL based).

  • Experience using Solar Winds Orion monitoring tools.

  • Experience with implementing and maintaining AirWatch, Intune and other mobile device management solutions, administer phone registration and advises on enterprise policies; installs, upgrades, configures, tests, maintains and supports operating system software in a production environment. Manages enterprise-class mobile device management solutions for iOS and Android.

  • Experience supporting various directory services including Active Directory and eDirectory, as AD site planning, Novell, and AD replication, DFS management, LDAP, and Windows File server management.

  • Experience working with or knowledge of Storage Area Network environments (NetApp, a plus).

  • Experience working in a large installed base shop (500+ servers), responsible for daily server operations / administration tasks.

  • Experience managing/supporting IIS.

  • Knowledge and experience in systems security (access controls, authorization controls, log management).

  • Experience with data protection and backup requirements / products (Rubrik, Veeam, CommVault or similar backup solutions).
