Shift: Sun-Thurs- 3:30 PM to 11:30 PM

This is a Senior Systems Administrator is position that will be responsible to provide advanced troubleshooting and systems administration and network configuration support. Will be capable of providing mentorship to more junior personnel, process improvement, systems enhancement functionality to the team. You will demonstrate proven methods of leadership, troubleshooting and resolution of complex problems.
The role of a Systems Engineer Senior is to monitor and react to custom alarms, customer tickets and inbound calls to the call center. Facilitate timely resolution of alarms and incident ticket through advanced troubleshooting, operating procedures and tools. The goal of the Systems Engineer Senior is to respond to customer inquiries, alarms and bring systems into full operation, as well as provide value-add support by reviewing and monitoring alarms and tickets for Change and Problem Management activities. The Systems Engineer Senior works closely with infrastructure, development, and Engineering teams. The ideal candidate will be a creative and versatile individual that is passionate about Linux, Windows and open systems.
Provide excellent customer service across a variety of platforms and technologies.
Monitoring Alarms and creating tickets for all alerts.
Managing backup and restore activities.
- Ability to add/change/remove firewall rules, fundamental knowledge of Security and Security protocols.
Disk /CPU Troubleshooting.
Understands Core Windows Services.
Understands the file and folder structure of a Windows Server OS.
Disk Load troubleshooting.
Understands Core Linux Services.
Understands Linux Disk layout.
Ability to install a server OS on a physical device:
Ability to take a physical server and install Linux Server (non-GUI).
Understands the concepts around backups. Ability to explain the different types of backups and its function.
Monitor and Maintain Networked environments of DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, SMTP, IIS, SSL, Internet Infrastructure and IP Information tools. Monitor and maintain of Routers, Switches, Firewalls, and network topologies in general.
Coordinate training for new associates.
Motivate and encourage associates through positive communication and feedback.
Conduct regular performance feedback evaluations to identify areas of coaching, improvement and disciplinary action, if needed.
Other duties as assigned.
BMC Suite of tools, including Remedy.
Linux REL 5,6 and 7, AIX, Unix and Solaris.
Windows Server 2008, 2012 and 2016.
MVS, Z/OS, or Z/VM on the mainframe environment.
Use of a multiple of software packages in the mainframe environment (OPS/MVS, JCL, SAS, Abendaid, DB2, DFHSM, DFRMM, TCPIP, VTAM, CICS, Omegamon Oracle grid, and VMware, VM monitoring tools.
Proficient in the use of one or more of the following production control scheduling packages: ESP, CA-7, and ControlM.
Ability to navigate through panels and windows to schedule, execute, troubleshoot job failure, and restart the jobs independently.
Experience performing system backups. Possess a competent level of knowledge or understanding of large file system backup strategies.
Experience or knowledge using Storage Area Network (SAN) and/or Virtual Tape Libraries (VTL) which has equipped the contractor with the skills and abilities to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues independently. Knowledge of Veritas Netbackup or High Availability Disaster Recovery (HADR) is a benefit.
Experience using peripheral components to connect to servers and troubleshoot/diagnose customer connectivity issues or system failures.
Experience using Solar Winds Network Monitoring tool, or a similar tool sets.
Experience with data communications hardware/software, including routers, switches and firewalls.
Ability to install, maintain, and monitor electronic equipment including: network cards, CSU/DSUs, hubs, routers, switches, controllers, multiplexors and other related networking equipment.
Minimum four years of IT work experience in a systems engineering role.
Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Four years experience of Windows and/or Linux network administration.
Two years of network administration, WAN administration, and/or LAN administration.
Four years of customer support experience.
Knowledge of virtual environments and administration.
Experience with backup and recovery platforms.
Knowledge of network monitoring tools.
Fundamental understanding of the OSI model.
Strong understanding of troubleshooting techniques.
Excellent documentation skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of high availability environment.
Accomplishes tasks with little to no supervision.
Ability to take initiative.
One or more of the below:
Network+, CCNA, Microsoft Certifications, Linux Certifications, A+, Security+
