Salary: $57,709, $129,794* (SVEA 2023/24 Salary Schedule 2024/25 TBD) *Based on 1.0 FTE

SVEA CBA 26.8.2.1 - Long term substitutes shall be paid at a daily rate determined by their placement on the Certificated Salary Schedule. If a long term substitute is absent for more than two (2) consecutive days of work, said substitute may not be returned to the assignment. Such substitutes shall not be paid for days not taught.

Required: Valid Washington State certificate with appropriate endorsement required (students may submit a note stating when certificate is expected).

Qualified Literacy Specialist will be highly skilled in reading pedagogy, assessment, differentiation to our WIN Reading program.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Collaborate with teachers to identify the literacy needs of students, to set learning goals and to develop best practices for continuous academic growth of students in their literacy and language acquisition.

  • Assist with the collection of data, analysis of data, and support the sharing of findings with all staff.

  • Assist with placing students in appropriate reading and writing interventions and support services.

  • Teach targeted literacy intervention to small groups of students daily using research-based strategies and resources.

  • Attend professional development to enhance knowledge of pedagogy and content.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to date records of student progress.

  • Assist in the coordination of paraprofessionals that support the literacy and language intervention programs.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities related to literacy and language as assigned by supervisor.

  • Insurance: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, basic life insurance, and accidental death and dismemberment insurance provided the assignment is anticipated to work at least 630 hours per year.*

  • Retirement Plans: This position is eligible for a 403(b) TSA Retirement Savings Plan.

  • Paid Holidays: This position is not eligible for paid holidays.

  • Paid Time Off: Certificated employees receive 12 sick days and 2 discretionary personal leave days each school year. Sick leave and discretionary personal leave days are based on scheduled hours and position start date.

Eligibility for benefits is determined by the number of hours employees are anticipated to work during the school year (September 1 through August 31). Any employee who is scheduled to work 630 hours or more in a year is eligible for benefits.
