Position Summary

The Sturm College of Law seeks to hire a part-time (hourly, non-benefited) assistant to provide administrative support for the Wills Lab. The Wills Lab partners law students and volunteer attorneys to draft wills and other related documents for clients. The Will Labs assistant will provide clerical support including: answering client emails and phone calls, scheduling, filing, and word processing.

This position will work 10 to 15 hours per week from August 16, 2024 to May 31, 2025. Specific days and hours per week are flexible, to be agreed upon by the professor and the employee.

This is a non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.

Essential Functions

  • Respond to client inquires via email and phone

  • Schedule client appointments

  • Document formatting

  • Organize paper and electronic files

  • Maintain project materials and resources

  • Specific, somewhat complex formatting for Wills drafted by law students in the Wills Lab

  • Precise electronic filing of all signed documents

  • Ability to get copies of documents off thumb drives used by students, or email attachments, or routers - used when we do wills where no internet is available.

  • Very good word processing skills, ability to learn new skills to keep up with technology

  • Complete accuracy with electronic filing requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Professional experience, training, or education

  • Experience formatting complex documents in Microsoft Word

Preferred Qualifications

  • Training as a paralegal

  • Experience with Excel

  • Experience in an office support setting

Work Schedule

This position will work 10 to 15 hours per week from August 16, 2024 to May 31, 2025. Specific days and hours per week are flexible, to be agreed upon by the professor and the employee.

Hourly Rate

The hourly rate for this position is $18.29.
