This position is being announced as a WLF TECHNICIAN 1 -4 and is in a Career Progression Group. The level at which this position will be filled depends upon the qualification of the selected candidate.

This position is for a technician based at Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge, which is located along the coast in Cameron and Vermilion parishes. The technician will assist biologists on projects at Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge.

Job duties will include trapping and banding of waterfowl and wetland birds, moist-soil management, marsh restoration activities, and education outreach, all of which involve regular operation of motorboats, airboats, all-terrain vehicles, and tractors. Additionally, the technician will assist biologists with the handling, monitoring, and tracking of Whooping Cranes as a part of a reintroduction of a non-migratory Whooping Crane population in southwest Louisiana. Qualified candidates will be able to work cooperatively as part of a team as well as have the ability to work independently in a harsh environment.
