Summary/Objective

Under general supervision of the Outdoor Recreation Management Coordinator, ensures the safety of patrons of Wildcat Lake by preventing and responding to emergencies, as well as operating equipment rentals at Wildcat Lake.

Essential Functions

• Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.

• Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.

• Presents a professional appearance and attitude at all times and maintains a high standard of customer service.

• Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.

• Prepares and maintains appropriate activity reports.

• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

Outside at Wildcat Lake Park.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

No travel is expected for this position.

Required Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

• CPR/Basic First Aid/Epinephrine Administration Certified

• Wilderness Lifeguard or Lifeguard Certified Current certification as Lifeguard by a recognized source of training.

• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

• Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.

• Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.

• Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education and Experience

• Outdoor Recreation Management or Wilderness Medicine and Rescue student.

• Knowledge of point of sales operating systems.

• Knowledge of appropriate use of rental gear.

• Ability to make repairs to rental gear as needed.
