Boulder County Public Health Department (PHD) is seeking to hire a Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Registered Dietitian.This position provides nutrition and breastfeeding counseling and referrals to high-risk clients in the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program at Boulder County Public Health (BCPH). The position collaborates with other health care providers; maintains required documentation; and performs other duties, as assigned. This position requires a minimum of three days per week of in person work.

5:15pm, Friday 7:45am
11:45am.This position requires a minimum of two days per week of in person work.This position will work remotelyandin personout of 515 Coffman Longmont, Colorado, 1735 S. Public Road Lafayette, Colorado, and 3482 BroadwayBoulder,Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is exempt.
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
Hiring Salary Range: $57,912.00 - $70,608.00 Annually

Examples of Duties
Provides client-centered nutrition and breastfeeding counseling to WIC Program participants
Assesses clients' nutritional status and develops nutrition care plans for participants while taking into consideration income, cultural food patterns, home facilities, and other psychosocial factors
Assists clients in establishing nutrition goals, and evaluation. Completes appropriate documentation in Compass system (i.e. electronic benefits)
Consults with health care providers on participants' nutritional needs, formula requiring prescription, and health concerns; makes appropriate referrals and follows up, as needed
Performs anthropometric screening of clients and makes eligibility determination
Provides referrals to other agencies or professionals
Counsels high-risk participants at least once during certification period and within the required timeframe
Certifies participants in the WIC Program as appropriate
Counsels low-risk participants as needed to fulfill processing standards
Participates in interdisciplinary teams for case collaboration
Maintains participant confidentiality and ensures that participants are treated equally with respect, compassion, and empathy
Adheres to program data-sharing policies, including applicable federal, state, and county rules and regulations
Assists in clinic oversight of WIC educators and dietetic interns, which includes scheduling; assigning and reviewing work; providing instruction/training in work methods; and providing input to the hiring, selection, and evaluation processes. Provides coaching, as needed
Provides interim supervision of staff and clinics when manager on duty is unavailable
Conducts training for WIC staff, as needed, and may serve as a preceptor for dietetic interns completing WIC rotations
Develops and conducts educational presentations to community groups and public health program staff
Assists WIC participants with electric breast pump loan program
Stays updated on public health nutrition trends and developments, including pre/perinatal, breastfeeding, infant, and early childhood nutrition
Maintains registered dietitian status with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Commission on Dietetic Registration by attending pertinent nutrition workshops, conferences, and/or other activities as prescribed by the professional portfolio process for obtaining CEU's (continuing education units)
Performs related work, as required
May be reassigned during emergency situations

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum ofa bachelor's degree in food and nutrition, dietetics, public health nutrition, or another related field and one year of clinical dietetics or community nutrition experience. Colorado WIC experience is preferred. Additional related education may count toward required experience.

Must be a registered dietitian/nutritionist (RD/RDN) as designated by the Commission on Dietetic Registration or be able to complete registration within six months of hire.

Ability to assess nutritional status, design nutritional care plans, and counsel clients to help them meet their nutritional goals
Knowledge of human nutrition and disease and how they apply to public health practice
Knowledge of effective counseling and educational concepts and methods
Basic supervisory and management skills are preferred.
