Wholesale Portfolio Risk Management (WPRM) is responsible for portfolio management for the wholesale portfolio across U.S. Bank. The functions include risk identification, risk appetite, portfolio construction and asset allocation strategies, and management of concentration, correlation and specialized risks and the associated risk mitigation. The team provides independent risk management and governance. The Group works closely with the business and various other key constituents to build out a comprehensive and proactive approach to portfolio management that promotes a strong risk management culture, aligned with U.S. Bank's risk appetite.

The WPRM Officer, as part of Credit Risk Management, manages and identifies risk for several Corporate Banking lending industries and portfolios in Wholesale. The person is responsible for developing pro-active and forward-looking viewpoints regarding their portfolio and creating solutions and recommendations for managing risk and influencing change. This includes application of portfolio management strategies with focus on corporate finance and risk / return profile and management of concentration and correlation risk through ensuring compliance with various limit frameworks. Additionally, the WPRM Officer is responsible for directing, monitoring, and coordinating risk management projects for assigned Corporate Banking lending industries / portfolios.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Identifies current and emerging risks of an assigned lending industry / portfolio, and develops conclusions and recommendations for managing risk

  • Works closely with the business line and credit approval and provides expertise and consultation regarding industry and portfolio credit issues and risks

  • Manages the risk management strategies and elements of an assigned lending industry / portfolio, including credit quality and portfolio management strategies

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
  • 10 or more years of applicable experience

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Ten plus years of experience in commercial lending, portfolio management or credit underwriting

  • Extensive knowledge of commercial lending and credit standards, policies, procedures and products

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

  • Well-developed negotiating skills and networking ability

  • Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word

  • Knowledge and experience with the CAPE.net underwriting platform

  • Ability to interpret data, draw conclusions and recommend next steps

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree with an emphasis on accounting, finance, and economics

Role Overview: CREB Portfolio Management Officer (PMO) is responsible for post close credit activity including documenting the conditions for pre-approved extensions and the associated legal documents. Additionally responsible for all monitoring and maintenance activities on an assigned portfolio including risk rating scorecards, annual sponsor/guarantor financial reviews, covenant compliance, construction monitoring, interest reserve analysis, lease reviews, loan reporting, and site inspections. Credit facilities include bridge, term, and construction loans for commercial real estate developers and investors. A key job function is the monitoring of client's operating performance and financial condition to proactively identify issues and opportunities. The PMO is an individual contributor who reports to the CREB Regional Portfolio Manager (CPM) and partners closely with Credit Officers and Underwriters. The PMO is responsible to drive process simplification and improvement under the direction of management. Functional Role Description: * Activities associated with the minor modification of existing credits and the extension of facilities which have qualified for defined extension options. * Collateral analysis, sponsor/guarantor financial analysis, and review of related legal documents * Reporting and maintenance of the existing loan portfolio.
