Wholesale Credit Risk Management (WCR) is responsible for lending activities and other counterparty related credit exposures. The group is based on Plano, TX, and the teams are aligned by industry. Wholesale Credit Risk Managers lead the client credit relationship in partnership with Coverage and Product business colleagues
The Risk Team manages exposure to a primarily investment-grade client base consisting of super-regional, multistate, and single state banks, and credit card processors. Responsibilities include diligence, structuring, approval, risk grading, and the on-going monitoring and management of a diverse and complex portfolio of risk, extensive derivatives and securities trading relationships, intraday liquidity facilities, and other credit exposures. The VP is expected to effectively manage teams and develop the analytical skills of juniors to assess the credit worthiness of counterparties.
Lead an industry focused team of associates and analysts
Manage the daily risk demands of a portfolio of clients, evaluating and executing on a variety of transactions for banks and credit card processors
Get involved in transactions including discussions with bankers, negotiating of legal documentation, setup of facilities, coordinating with middle office teams and ongoing monitoring of clients post transaction approval.
Build strong relationships and maintain open communication channels with colleagues across the firm, including Bankers, Operations, Legal, Middle Office, Finance, etc.
Track the clients on an ongoing basis and update key stakeholders on key developments with regards to clients or industry and potential impact on credit rating
Keep abreast of changing legislation, governmental actions and economic trends that impact banks, broker-dealers and credit card processors
Train, develop, and work with analysts to review new proposals and maintain updated credit assessments on a large portfolio of existing clients
Provide leadership and input into key projects across the department, and contribute to process and efficiency improvement initiatives of the Credit organization
57 years professional work experience in financial services (investment banking or similar)
Possesses a solid understanding of financial products and market dynamics
Proficiency with derivative products and documentation (including ISDA and CSA)
Expertise in loan structuring and documentation
Strong communication skills both oral and written
Ability to effectively present analysis and interact with key stakeholders
Demonstrated client skills, including due diligence and negotiation
Deadline orientation; close attention to detail and accuracy; ability to perform under pressure
Ability to work proactively & independently as well as in a team environment
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build relationships with key stakeholders across lines of business
Track record of training and developing junior talent
