Wholesale Credit Risk Management (WCR) is responsible for lending activities and other counterparty related credit exposures. The group is based on Plano, TX, and the teams are aligned by industry. Wholesale Credit Risk Managers lead the client credit relationship in partnership with Coverage and Product business colleagues

The Risk Team manages exposure to a primarily investment-grade client base consisting of super-regional, multistate, and single state banks, and credit card processors. Responsibilities include diligence, structuring, approval, risk grading, and the on-going monitoring and management of a diverse and complex portfolio of risk, extensive derivatives and securities trading relationships, intraday liquidity facilities, and other credit exposures. The VP is expected to effectively manage teams and develop the analytical skills of juniors to assess the credit worthiness of counterparties.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead an industry focused team of associates and analysts

  • Manage the daily risk demands of a portfolio of clients, evaluating and executing on a variety of transactions for banks and credit card processors

  • Get involved in transactions including discussions with bankers, negotiating of legal documentation, setup of facilities, coordinating with middle office teams and ongoing monitoring of clients post transaction approval.

  • Build strong relationships and maintain open communication channels with colleagues across the firm, including Bankers, Operations, Legal, Middle Office, Finance, etc.

  • Track the clients on an ongoing basis and update key stakeholders on key developments with regards to clients or industry and potential impact on credit rating

  • Keep abreast of changing legislation, governmental actions and economic trends that impact banks, broker-dealers and credit card processors

  • Train, develop, and work with analysts to review new proposals and maintain updated credit assessments on a large portfolio of existing clients

  • Provide leadership and input into key projects across the department, and contribute to process and efficiency improvement initiatives of the Credit organization

Qualifications:

  • 57 years professional work experience in financial services (investment banking or similar)

  • Possesses a solid understanding of financial products and market dynamics

  • Proficiency with derivative products and documentation (including ISDA and CSA)

  • Expertise in loan structuring and documentation

  • Strong communication skills both oral and written

  • Ability to effectively present analysis and interact with key stakeholders

  • Demonstrated client skills, including due diligence and negotiation

  • Deadline orientation; close attention to detail and accuracy; ability to perform under pressure

  • Ability to work proactively & independently as well as in a team environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build relationships with key stakeholders across lines of business

  • Track record of training and developing junior talent

The Leveraged North America Corporates Credit Risk group works with a client base of leading Diversified Industrial, Consumer, Healthcare, Retail, Technology, Media, Communications, Power, Natural Resources, Financial Sponsors and other clients. The team is looking for a Vice President with credit and corporate finance experience and strong analytical and team work skills to structure, analyze, diligence and negotiate new leveraged transactions and to manage existing leveraged exposures. Specifically, a Vice President in Leveraged North America Corporates Credit Risk - * Manages a portfolio of credit exposure * Exercises credit approval authority for lending and trading exposures * Supervises, manages, reviews, and provides input on credit analysis and seeks approval for all transactions, including loans, derivatives, and operating exposures, individually or as part of a deal team * Leads credit due diligence for bank and bond executions for clients in their portfolio * Assigns and approves risk ratings * Leads senior management presentations, including industry reviews and quarterly portfolio meetings, to assess client, industry, and sector developments, and to evaluate risk ratings * Leads the discussion and responds to questions regarding clients during internal and regulatory audits of the portfolio * Coordinates, supervises, and manages the workflow of junior team members * Ensures compliance with all audit and administrative requirements, including adherence to regulatory guidance, and internal training and expense management * Remains current on all aspects of the industry and credit relationships, including performance, risk ratings, exposure, threshold management, compliance, potential problems and opportunities * Leads or assists in negotiating, structuring, and finalizing documentation for loans and derivatives * Works with CIB Coverage and Corporate Banking on allocation of capital for clients * Continuously works on process and efficiency improvements within the Credit organization * Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred * 5+ years of work experience of banking experience; commercial bank preferred * Exceptional credit underwriting background and analytical skills * Deep experience managing a portfolio of lending and other credit exposures * Strong grasp of accounting and corporate finance * In-depth understanding of financial products and structuring * Solid knowledge of market dynamics * Excellent communication and partnership skills * Successful partnering with internal groups * Experience interfacing with external clients * History of thorough adherence to compliance protocol and interaction with regulatory supervisors * Track record of managing teams and developing junior talent * Ability to successfully work independently and as a part of a team * Aptitude for and interest in innovation and process improvement Jpmorgan Chase & Co.
