Essential Functions:

As a valued member of the PrimeFlight team, you will provide safe and courteous wheelchair services to various airline passengers with disabilities, while complying with the Air Carrier Access Act, airport policies, airline procedures, FAA regulations, and U.S. Customs procedures you will:

  • Gain a mastery of wheelchair procedures, including dispatching, courtesy and non-solicitation rules and protocols for safety and cleanliness

  • Manage schedules to ensure adequate coverage of all work areas

  • Communicate regularly with the Station Management and customer carrier about staffing, scheduling and procedures

  • Monitor staff members to ensure safe working environment and verify that regulations are followed

  • Establish procedures to maximize staff efficiency and quality control

  • Coach, counsel and correct action of hourly employees

  • Safely and comfortably lift disabled passengers with assistance from one mobility device to or from an aircraft seat

  • Push wheelchair passengers to and from gates

  • Carry passengers' carry-on luggage

  • Assist with checked and claimed luggage

  • Roll customer-occupied wheelchair safely down the jet bridge

  • Ensure wheel brakes are in place prior to allowing passengers to exit the wheelchair

  • Complete any necessary wheelchair or incident reports

  • Assist passenger with any problems, questions, or concerns

  • Maintain professional working relationships with fellow employees, managers, airline employees, and airport authorities

  • Have computer, tablet or smart phone ability

  • Demonstrate regular, predictable attendance at job location

  • Exceed PrimeFlight customer service and safety standards

  • Carry out other duties as assigned

  • 18 years of age

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively in English.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

Computer, tablet or smart phone ability.

Certificates and Licenses:

No certifications needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise shifts and staff members as directed by the Station Management.

BASIC FUNCTION: This position provides transportation service for our clients that require transportation services utilizing wheelchair accessible vehicles. The driver may is also required to provide service for clients to behavioral health services and centers, routine medical appointments from their home, hospital, facility or other location and safely transport to the destination. The driver is responsible for maintaining accurate and complete transport documentation. ComTrans is a safety sensitive company Job description(s) are subject to change based on business necessity EMPLOYEE STATUS: Regular: Full-time; hourly / non-exempt position. REQUIREMENTS: Education: High School Graduate or equivalent preferred but not required. Age: All ComTrans employees must be at least 18 years old, all driving positions are required to be at least 21 years old as required by insurance. Exceptions may be made for non-driving positions on a case-by-case basis and dependent upon the position and its responsibilities. Licensing/Registration/Certification: * Valid TX driver's license. * Approved by our insurance company as a driver. Company Provided Training/Certifications * Have or be able to obtain a level one fingerprint clearance card * First Aid/CPR * Crisis Prevention and Intervention. * Complete ComTrans Driver Certification Training Program. Physical Requirements: * Ability to stand, climb stairs/steps, escort clients to and from destination, kneel, crouch, reach and extend arms. * Able to grasp objects such as steering wheel, car seats, etc * Sit in a driving or sitting position from 1 to up to 12 hours. * Able to get in and out of vehicles multiple times per day * Assisting students/clients in and out of the vehicles multiple times each day. * Able to bend, kneel and secure wheelchairs and clients multiple times per day. * Ability to lift or move at least 40 pounds * Ability to carry, lift and install child seats into vehicles and secure children into child seats. * When required, able to pass a Department of Transportation physical exam initially and upon expiration. * Able to perform vehicle pre and post trip inspections daily and on any vehicle * Able to work in a variety of environments; inside and outside, able to tolerate a variety of climate changes and conditions, * May be required to push/pull clients over a variety of surfaces and inclines with weights of clients up to 500 pounds. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:RESPONSIBILITIES: * The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to, the following: U:\Job Descriptions and Interview Forms\Wheelchair Driver.doc 11/30/2016 * The Wheelchair Driver reports directly to the Wheelchair Driver Manager. * Document transportation issues using professional documentation practices. * Ensure the safety of clients at all times. * Escort all clients in to destination sites, checking them in with appropriate personnel. * Practice defensive driving at all times. * Communicate all issues to the program manager immediately. * Conduct vehicle check prior to start of day. * Maintain a safe work environment. * Use appropriate car seats when needed and required by law. * Conduct vehicle checks prior to start of day. * Communicate with dispatch, supervisors, and managers regarding all incidents/accidents. * Ensure vehicle clean at all times. * Complete all required paperwork daily and turn in daily. * Secure wheelchairs according to safety specifications * Provide door-through-door service for all wheelchair clients * Check in clients, when necessary, with appropriate facility personnel. * Ensure vehicle assigned have required supplies (maps, driving directions, vehicle driver identification, fire extinguisher, car seats as needed) * Other duties as assigned.
