Produce a quality product by achieving overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) goals. Press Operations report directly to the Manufacturing Supervisors. Press Operators work closely with the Graphics Department, Maintenance Department, Leadership team, and Customers.


Work in a safe manner
Assist in the training of safe work practices for all new employees
Complete safety work orders and forward to the appropriate Supervisor to resolve safety issues requiring Maintenance support
Wear required PPE, including but not limited to: safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection.
Complete a minimum of one behavior observation/near miss report each month
Follow all ergonomic requirements of position, including but not limited to: lifting, carrying, bending, climbing, and reaching
Understand and follow Hazard Communications policy
Ensure machine guarding (ie lockout/tagout, E-stops, light curtains, pressure mats, etc.) is in place and in proper working condition
Follow safety guidelines and procedures


Maintain a work environment suitable for food packaging, this includes: Safe Quality Foods (SQF) requirements
Train new employees on housekeeping responsibilities for their areas
Utilize scheduled and unscheduled downtime to clean production areas and equipment
Complete required documentation for SQF


Train new employees on all procedures pertaining to producing a quality product
Follow all procedures to produce a quality product and to comply with the Coveris Quality and Food Safety (QFS) System
Be proactive in resolving quality process failures
Complete required document for SQF

Delivery (Production):

Setup orders in an efficient manner to sustain production standards and to maintain production schedules issued to the Manufacturing areas
Proof color for the start-up of all orders
Fill out appropriate documentation pertaining to the startup of an order
Monitor color throughout the production run visually and with use of X-Rite equipment
Follow all procedures and work instructions, to produce a quality product and to comply with Performance System (CPS) requirements
Troubleshoot minor process failures
Inform helpers of their responsibilities regarding press setup and during the manufacturing of an order.
Ensure all production runs meet the customer and company specifications

Employee Relations:

Assure proper orientation to all new or transferred employees, as required
Complete the necessary forms for production data
Complete the required documentation for SQF
2 years experience as press operator
Measure using a ruler or measuring tape
Add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
Comprehend and apply SPC techniques
Read and follow written instructions
Follow work rules and procedures
Work with others in team oriented environment
Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts and overtime as required

Physical Dimensions:

Work is medium difficulty. There are 10-20 occurrences per day of heavy work. This occurs when shafts are lifted, on the average weighing 50 lbs. Shafts can be controlled by hoist equipment if available. Ink buckets weighing approximately 40-50 pounds must be handled but not carried more than a few feet

We are looking for a motivated individual who can function in a flexible, fast paced production environment. Our workplace requires individuals who understand the needs of the business while maintaining a focus on safety, customer satisfaction, quality, and productivity. This facility is in the process of moving to a 24/7 production schedule. The Finishing Machine Operator will be assigned to one of the 2 night crews (7p to 7a). Finishing Machine Operator duties/responsibilities include: * following all safety rules and practices; * learning customer requirements and specifications by reading factory work orders, print cards, and design specifications; * directing the activities of other machine crew members to efficiently set up and run orders; * maintaining quality and production standards as required by the company; * performing reporting functions; including entering data into plant and/or equipment computers, and filling out quality certificates, checklists, and/or other required paperwork; * setting and adjusting the prefeeder and feed sections of the machine; * working with printing inks; including installing inks, checking and maintaining proper pH and viscosity levels, verifying colors against standards, removing inks, and washing print stations; * working with printing plates and pull straps; including obtaining and installing plates, removing and asiding plates, washing plates during runs, and washing plates at the ends of runs and shifts; * setting and adjusting the slotting, scoring, and/or die cutting sections of the machine; * adjusting impression and register (both through and across machine) settings on all stations; * setting and adjusting the folding section of the machine and the glue application system * performing minor cutting die repairs; * continually monitoring the quality and quantity of production; * solving quality and production problems; * informing the supervisor of safety items and maintenance needs; * maintaining teamwork within the machine crew and with all other associates; * following prescribed practices in all circumstances; * performing other duties as assigned by supervision. Finishing Machine operators report to converting supervisors. QUALIFICATIONS: The qualifications for Machine Operators are the ability to meet the requirements of the job with or without accommodation; the ability to read, write, and speak English; the ability to accurately read a measuring tape and ruler; the ability to use basic shop math; the ability to learn; and the ability to follow instructions, ask questions, and work effectively as a member of a team. A high school diploma (or GED) is required. One to two years' experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment is required.
