Responsible for leading a designated region with revenue of approximately $30M. The incumbent works primarily in the field supporting Independent Manufacturing Representatives (IMRs) as well as partnering with other manufacturers and companies that sell Leica products. Responsible for the leadership and driving growth in the Ophthalmology segment.
* Building relationships in designated region distribution for the medical market segments, making sure the overall region sales pipeline. (i.e. by stage, Value Selling, win/loss analysis, etc.).
* Provide strategy, plan, and leadership to grow the Ophthalmology business in line with the strategic plan.
* Develop an annual strategic plan for the region of responsibility for the entire Medical portfolio. Measure the IMR performance and accurately partner with all internal Leica departments.
* Lead all aspects of price discounts and expenses. Nurture long-term partnerships with current and potential IMRs. Source and recruit IMR partners for vacant areas.
* Support market research and analysis (VOC) in close co-operation with internal Leica departments globally. Conduct product presentations and training. Support marketing planning for the market!
Professional Experience
* Minimum 7-10 years in technical capital equipment sales.
* Minimum 3-5 years enjoys leading and loving employees and/or distributors/partners.
* Prefer experience with surgical microscopy, neurosurgery or Ophthalmology.
* Bachelor's Degree or higher with 70% includes 5% international
* Validated leadership capabilities including the ability to drive high employee engagement within the team and within other teams in the organization. Ability to build strong, robust teams.
* Demonstrated ability to handle and develop indirect sales channels, direct sales channels, other internal managers.
* Ability to analyze situations, seek practical problems, and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Driving structured process improvements including funnel management.
* Ability to work well in a matrixed environment requiring a high degree of influencing skills. A capacity for critical thinking/planning as well as tactical implementation.

* Ability to adapt to new software-driven instruments, conduct demonstrations, and train sales representatives and customers.

Requirements
* 5+ years experience in sales management with responsibility for managing 5-10 sales reps in Life Science capital equipment sales.
* 7+ years' experience as a sales representative in the Life Science capital equipment field desired.
* Education
* MS degree in a science or engineering field or equivalent minimum
* B.S. in Biology desired
* Master and/or MBA a plus
* Travel (required estimated % of the time)
* 75% travel (4 out of 5 days per week)
* Travel Internationally
