Overview
Role: The Western New York Superintendent will be charged with laying the foundation for BRICK's success in the region. BRICK opened its first campus in Buffalo in August 2023 and is currently working in the Rochester community to open a school in the coming years. There is an Executive Director in the region and we are looking for the Superintendent to partner with the ED as we grow the region to scale. The goal is to grow the region to 7 schools (4 sites) in 5 years, educating 3,000 students once scaled.
Essential Funcrions
Build personal and professional network in order to cultivate future instructional and leadership talent for the BRICK Education Network schools
Work with the Regional Board of Trustees in BuffaloBuild a Regional Board of Trustees in RochesterLearn BRICK's academic, operational and financial model, and build relationships within the organization
Develop and articulate a teachable point of view (TPOV) for BRICK Western New York region
Hire the Principal for each school
Region Management:
Observe schools on a daily basis and partner with principals to constantly evaluate and improve instruction
Coach principals on the implementation of curriculum, assessments, and other aspects of the BRICK Education Network program at schools
Analyze student achievement data to improve school programs, pinpoint errors, and improve outcomes
Manage principals to plan and implement summer and school-year training and content-area professional development for teachers in network
Partner with BRICK Education Network leadership to support operational and compliance needs for the region and schools
Manage and support BRICK's regional office team to achieve results for students
Earn broad community support for BRICK's mission and work
Partner with BRICK Education Network home office to meet organizational needs, including development, marketing, recruitment, human capital, and other relevant functions
Perform other related duties as required and assigned
Knowledge and Skills
Experience utilizing data and analyzing results to tell a story
Successful experience in relationship development, building personal trust and making successful grant proposal presentations
Persuasive writing skills for grant writing, reporting and donor communications (proposals, email, letter, etc.)
Ability to communicate BRICK's vision with an external audience
Comfort with collaboration and coordination of relationships with decision makers and influencers of organizations
Demonstrated capacity to take initiative, and manage multiple projects with limited supervision
Experience working in a fast-paced, results-oriented, highly entrepreneurial environment
Qualifications
Must be willing to travel between home office (Newark), Rochester, and Buffalo. Position is to be based in Western New York.
Master's degree is required
At least 4 years of experience as a high-performing school leader is required
Current authorization to work in the United States - A candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment
Reliable transportation
Ability to some work late nights and weekends
An eagerness to set ambitious, challenging, and tangible goals, and a relentless drive to achieve them
An ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and a capacity to remain calm and focused when faced with unexpected challenges
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including strong public speaking skills
Bilingual is helpful but not required
Salary, Goals and Employment Period
Salary Range: Depending on experience
Full time
Employment Period: Twelve Months
Fringe Benefits: Health, Dental, Vision, and 401K
$100,000 - $170,000 semi monthly
