Job Description:

The new Wellness Peer Educator program seeks students passionate about public health education, social justice, and advancing health equity on campus. Peer Educators will work with the Health Promotion Specialist to provide students with resources, education, and events. Topics covered include mental health and emotional well-being, alcohol and other drug use, harm reduction, sexual violence prevention, healthy relationships, and safer sex.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Brainstorm public health/wellness initiatives for the MCLA community.

  • Design health education curriculum for the summer and Fall 2024 semester.

  • Facilitate events and programming.

  • Create a roadmap for the structure of the new peer educator program.

  • Connect students to information and resources.

Requirements:

  • Open to first years, sophomores, and juniors.

  • Can commit to the program for summer 2024 and the 2024-2025 school year.

  • Passionate about health & wellness education, program planning & facilitation.

  • Understand how systemic oppression impacts access to physical and mental health treatment; commitment to improving barriers to health & wellness.

  • Skills preferred include leadership, public speaking, event planning, curriculum building, workshop facilitation, social media, art & graphic design, and research.

  • Students of all majors/minors are encouraged to apply!

Additional Information:

This position is open only to students currently enrolled at MCLA.
