The CRC Operations Resources Operations Excellence Team is seeking to fill a Well Construction Engineering Advisor position to support our California assets based out of our Bakersfield, CA location.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Completions and Drilling Engineering expertise, across CRC, in both conventional and non-conventional reservoir plays

  • This role provides technical and economic analysis of various well construction techniques for exploration and development prospects

  • Design, optimization, and evaluation of drilling and completion trials is a key responsibility of this position

  • Impartially evaluate new and emerging technologies using scientific methods is a must

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in an engineering discipline or relevant field of study

  • Subject Matter Expert in stimulation/completion design and execution in unconventional/shale and/or similar plays

  • Subject Matter Expert in horizontal well drilling design and execution in unconventional/shale and/or similar plays

  • Ability to tie petrophysics, geomechanics, geology, & well construction design to producibility

  • Desire to work in both exploration/appraisal or development environments -primarily in CA

  • Proficient in running fracture modeling software

  • Experience in DFIT design and evaluation a plus

  • Recent experience with horizontal/long lateral wells with multi-stage frac completions

  • A minimum of eight years of relevant work experience in both E&P and Service companies

  • Current on technology developments in unconventional reservoirs

  • Innovative and creative thinker with a desire to challenge the status quo and conventional thinking with the ability to implement new ideas, processes and technologies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to make technically and economically sound recommendations with incomplete information and tight deadline

  • Excellent time management skills with ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently and meet tight deadlines

  • Must be a team player with strong interpersonal skills with experience working in a multi-discipline team environment

  • Capable to work projects in a field environment

  • Mentor / develop engineering talent within company

  • Strong communication skills with ability to effectively share information

  • Must have valid driver's license & a clean DMV record

This role will have broad oversight for future projects on the campus, both new building construction and renovation. Candidate will typically manage all on-site field construction activities associated with the completion of a medium-size projects. (Typically a project having 100,000 to 1 million construction manhours or a total installed cost of $5 to $50 million.) Applies a comprehensive knowledge of various disciplines to be used during construction, as well as the methods and techniques to be utilized for installation. Incumbent must become thoroughly familiar with required contractual obligations and technical aspects of all facilities to be erected. In addition to construction supervision, the incumbent is also responsible for field administration, procurement, and field engineering. Willingness to relocate to construction site locations is expected. Responsibilities : * Oversees and is responsible for all aspects of the proposed construction projects, including, but not limited to, procurement, project management, design management, stakeholder management, scheduling, safety, contractor payments, project close-out and any other responsibility as related to the completion of the project and certification with DSA. * Directs the overall planning of construction activities to identify critical milestones and priorities. Provide insight to site logistics and staging prior to the procurement of the GC. Assist in development of preliminary schedule and assure procured GC complies with, or betters, the established PMT schedule. * Determines budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule. Ensures that the services of contractors required by the project will be available at the appropriate time to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity. Coordinates and liaises with Stakeholders to assure prior knowledge of construction events and ongoings. * Establishes assignments for Project Engineers, Independent and Specialty Inspectors and Consultants for various work areas of construction operations, monitoring progress and recommending corrective action as necessary. * Manages the assignment of manpower, materials, and equipment to maximize efficiency, maintain schedules, and to meet budget goals. Keeps alert to possible problem areas and takes preventative action to ensure that critical milestones are met for each phase of the project. * Ensures the use of sound construction practices to attain required quality control at the maximum efficiency and minimum cost. * Prepares periodic reports summarizing progress of construction activities for higher-level management and clients. * Ensures effective implementation of all Company and client policies and procedures, including labor relations policies. * Serves as the primary contact with client representatives, contractors, and government representatives for construction-related activities. Maintains strong client and community relations. Requirements : * 4-year degree in construction-related field (or equivalent construction-related work experience), as well as 15 to 20 years of experience in field construction is required. * Experience in the construction of large educational facilities is essential and highly preferred. * Prior educational experience in California and interaction with and knowledge of DSA is strongly preferred. Skills/ Competencies : Requires a comprehensive knowledge of construction-related processes, as well as a thorough knowledge of industry practices.
