BCTC is a premier career and technology center that operates as a school of choice, designed for high school students as well as adult students who are seeking to enhance their educational program with a highly relevant career and technical experience that is connected directly to business and industry. Our welding facility was recently built (2021) and includes the latest state-of-the-art equipment. Position Goal:

Provide quality occupational instruction to secondary career and technical students that will prepare them for a successful career path in the field of welding. The selected candidate will introduce welding standards established by the American Welding Society (AWS) using the latest equipment in a state-of-the-art lab. Qualifications: Experience should include fabricating or repairing metal using electric arc welding, gas metal arc welding and gas tungsten arc welding, as well as oxyacetylene cutting/welding, pulse welding technology and using a CNC controlled plasma table.

AWS certification preferred and excellent communication skills required. In addition, the candidate must have at least four years of paid work experience as a welder and be willing to complete necessary coursework to earn a vocational teaching certification, or currently possess a PA Vocational Teaching certificate in the area of Welding Technology/Welder PDE CIP: 48.0508 Occupational Competency Code 2079. Prior teaching experience is not required.

Any type of supervisor or lead experience is a plus. Work schedule: Full-time (10-month/year). The normal workday is Monday – Friday, 7:30 am to 3:15 pm, 7 ¾ hours.

The day includes a 30-minute duty free lunch. 10-months (190 days/year). This includes six (6) evening functions per school year equaling three (3) contractual workdays). Two days per month, there will be up to an additional fifteen (15) minutes added to the workday for faculty meetings. Why join our team? PTO Days as follows: 10 sick days (accumulative); 2 personal days (after six years of employment 1 additional day will be earned); 1 – 3 bereavement days as needed. PSERS retirement contributory pension and tuition reimbursement available from $3,000 to $7,000/year based on certification status and contract conditions being met. Starting salary is based on experience and the negotiated professional union salary matrix with annual increases.
