Carteret Community College is seeking a part-time welding instructor who will conduct college courses for undergraduate students. The ideal candidate is one who can work in a team based environment where our main goal is to teach students to the best of their potential, maintain a safe weld shop, is efficient, and able to teach current job skills. We teach all welding processes, however, classes focus on one at a time. The position will require the ability to accommodate a flexible working schedule including evening and weekends. There may be limited travel requirements within the service area.

EDUCATION: Diploma in Welding or related field.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds. - To handle welding supplies and changing compressed gas cylinders.
EXPERIENCE: Teaching experience at the Community College level or higher. Demonstration of skills in the areas of: communication, organization, and managing multiple priorities; ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with students, faculty, staff, community groups, and others; and demonstrated ability to work within a collaborative team environment. Prefer that candidate has experience with the Moodle learning management system.
LICENSING: Industry certifications in teaching area are a plus.
Among the most essential functions and responsibilities of this position include:
TEACHING AND LEARNING:
Teach courses assigned by the chairperson and approved by the division dean.
Design and implement instructional activities that are appropriate and meaningful.
Adhere to the departmental course guidelines and ensure that content covers approved student learning outcomes.
Maintain all required college records including attendance and grade reports, roll books, etc. Classes use Moodle teaching software; Moodle training will be available.
Evaluate student performance using methods appropriate to the course.
Measure and report required student learning outcomes
Assist students in receiving needed instructional resources
Maintain, review, and update course descriptions, learning outcomes, and course syllabi
Recommend supplies, equipment, equipment repairs, and textbooks.
Participate in departmental activities relative to revising and updating the program(s) in the area of expertise.
Utilize student learning outcomes assessment results to improve courses/programs
Maintain current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for position.
Keep abreast of current technology.
Adhere to all institutional policies and procedures.
Attend all required department, division, and college-wide meetings.
Maintain contact with specialized vocations where applicable.
Be alert to public relations opportunities and use these to promote the college and department
