WV Northern Community College seeks qualified, student-centered individuals to teach Welding through the college's Economic and Workforce Development (EWD) department (customized courses, continuing education courses, and community education courses).
The immediate position needed will be responsible for providing specific welding instruction (classroom and hands-on) for a customized training agreement WVNCC has with a regional company. Additional positions will be opened as courses are scheduled, and as need arises for training.
Positions may be located at or near one of the 3 campuses of WVNCC in Weirton, Wheeling, New Martinsville. Positions may be located on site of a WVNCC business partner.
Hours can vary. Daytime, evening and/or weekend courses are offered.

EWD Adjunct Instructors serve as temporary, part-time instructors whose appointments are for a specific limited period and for specific assigned course(s). EWD Adjunct instructors are eligible to receive reappointment; however, no number of appointments shall create any presumption of a right to reappointment or designation as tenured or full-time faculty or as regular part-time or full-time staff. Adjunct instructors have instructional responsibilities consistent with the laws, rules, and procedures which guide all Economic and Workforce instructors and training providers.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
All EWD Adjunct Instructors are responsible for adhering to the following guidelines.
Promptly fill out and return any mandatory college forms
Use the WVNCC email for all communication with students, other faculty, or staff (no personal or otherwise external email account)
Use the college approved course syllabus, remaining consistent with catalog description, student needs, and other institutional guidelines
Plan and implement strategies and activities to accomplish course objectives/outcomes
Clarify assignments, expectations, attendance policy, grading policy, evaluation methods, and class procedures to students
Evaluate students on the basis of their achievements toward these objectives/outcomes
Advise and assist students in matters related to course work outside the classroom
Meet each class during the scheduled hours in campus-based classes OR participate in teaching and learning activities several times a week in online classes.
Ensure that class is held the required number of hours advertised during the term
Make arrangements for equipment and supplies, field trips, Web page, outline, or other special activities needed for a course
Complete all program and course assessment practices and instruments as requested
Understand and use technology that will enhance the teaching/learning in the classroom
Complete administrative responsibilities by activating and using the WVNCC adjunct email account for institutional correspondence with staff and students
Education:
Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution preferred. Experience may be substituted.
Appropriate licensure or certifications are required.
AWS certifications in GMAW, SMAW, GTAW, and FCAW in plate and/or pipe, as well as CWI and/or CWE.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years' experience in welding and/or fabrication.
Experience in training/instruction is preferred, as well as development of training materials and course content.
A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Must be familiar with current professional industry regulatory standards.
Ability to work as an effective team member
Ability to travel to multiple sites including Weirton, WV and New Martinsville, WV.
Interpersonal skills including tact, patience and diplomacy.
Evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of students, faculty and staff
