Job Overview:

The Welding Engineer position is located in Waynesboro, GA for McDermott's CB&I Storage Tank Solutions (CSTS) business. The successful candidate will be part of CSTS, the world's leading and most experienced builder and designer of industrial storage facilities.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Welding requirement training for welders/bay foreman

  • Review customer specifications for welding requirements

  • Develop WPSs and PQRs for a variety of materials including carbon steel, low-temp carbon steel, low-alloy, stainless, and nickel based alloys

  • Knowledge of dissimilar weld joints

  • Maintain welder continuity and welder qualifications

  • Knowledge of ASME Section IX and Section VIII, API 650 and 620, AWS D1.1 is mandatory.

  • Code knowledge of the additional below is helpful

  • ASME, API, AWWA,NACE

  • ASME B31.1 & B31.3, API 653, AWWA D100

  • AWS D1.6 stainless and NACE MR 0175

  • Knowledge of stress relieving (Post Weld Heat Treatment) requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of welding processes including GTAW, FCAW, SMAW, GMAW, and SAW.

  • Knowledge of mechanized (SAW, GMAW/FCAW , GTAW) welding

  • Knowledge of NDE methodologies including RT, UT, PT, MT, VT

  • Knowledge of PMI, hardness testing methods, and UT wall thickness

  • Write and disposition Non-Conformance Reports and Corrective Action Reports

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science in Welding Engineering / Engineering Technology or equivalent

  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong commitment to safety

  • Nuclear field construction or shop fabrication experience

  • Experience in the field erection of API 650 and API 620 storage tanks

  • Experience in the field erection of ASME pressure vessels

  • Experience in the field erection of API 650 & 620 storage tanks

  • Experience in the field erection of AWS D1.1 and D1.6 Structures

  • Experience in the set-up and operation of mechanized welding and cutting equipment

  • Experience in on-site heavy construction

  • ASNT-TC-1A Level II in VT, MT, PT, RT and UT

  • AWS CWI

  • Experience in 2D CAD

VIEW JOBS 1/15/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-04-14T00:00 Maintenance Engineer - Plant Vogtle Description Maintenance Engineer - Plant Vogtle Units 1&2 (Waynesboro, GA) Summary Maintenance Engineers implement various maintenance programs; identify and solve problems through investigation, evaluation, and resolution; evaluate and implement industry operating experience; and provide general engineering and technical support to maintenance teams as needed. Maintenance Engineers provide support by monitoring equipment and resolving day-to-day problems. Southern Nuclear, a subsidiary of Southern Company, manages and operates six nuclear power electric generating plants that provide approximately 20 percent of the electricity used in Alabama and Georgia. Their responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: * Providing technical oversight for major equipment refurbishments. * Coordinating with equipment vendors for proper product supply or services. * Assisting with the development, implementation, and improvement of Preventative Maintenance (PM) Technical Bases. * Ensuring cost benefit analysis balanced against PM effectiveness. * Developing vendor specifications for equipment overhauls and monitoring the quality of onsite services. * Act as a project manager and/or Temp Maintenance Supervisor during refueling and equipment outages. * Resolving engineering problems encountered by Craft during around-the-clock work activities. * Coordinating with Systems Engineering and off-site Engineering to resolve equipment problems that are the result of design issues. * Solving equipment problems through evaluations and modifications. * Coordinating activities related to corrective maintenance, refurbishments, preventive maintenance, and work planning. * Administering and coordinating the Lifting and Rigging Program. * Administering the Valve Packing Program, Welding Program and ASME Repair/Replacement Programs. * Coordinating Work Order Feedback. * Evaluating unavailable equipment for impacts on plant design and safety. * Coordinating and providing field support for Motor Operated Valve testing. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * A BS degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program, or a PE license, is required. * An ability to solve problems and make sound engineering decisions, based on experience and appropriate industry practices, to make timely decisions which might impact plant safety and reliability. * Excellent oral and written communication skills Background/Experience: * 3 years of power plant experience required * Power Plant equipment troubleshooting experience required * Welding and/or ASME Section XI Repair/Replacement experience is highly desired. * Lifting and Rigging experience and/or training is preferred. * Valve Maintenance experience is preferred * Industrial equipment lubrication experience is preferred.
