Groot is seeking a welder for the Container Repair role for our Elgin, IL location.


  • Perform welding and repair of trash containers, trash compactors, and trash trucks in our fleet.

  • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate and OSHA standards.

  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.

  • Ability to effectively communicate needed repairs or tasks.

  • Schedule is Monday through Friday 6 am to 3:30 pm, plus Saturdays as needed from 6 am to 11 am.

  • Pay is $28 per hour, overtime is paid after 40 hours at time and a half


  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in Stick and MIG welding.

  • Fabrication experience a plus!

He/she must be able to perform daily tasks required to ensure the quality of workmanship, accountability, safety and team performance. He/she will have skills in fitting, welding, and using vertical and horizontal saws.</p><p>Operate machines to cut, blanks for CNC machines using, plasma cutters, and band saws Set up welding equipment (amperage, voltage, wire speed, etc) maximizing efficiency and effectiveness per application Read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, and GD&amp;T Prepare all materials prior to welding Creative input on fixture design concepts for ideal part fit-up, create and evaluate prototype fixtures Prepare welded assemblies for cosmetic finishing using grinding and sanding Work overtime and weekends (if required) Record the consumption of material and supplies Record and track daily operations Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area</p><p>Welder Certification (preferred) Minimum of 2 years of welding experience Strong work ethic Meticulous attention to details Highly motivated Strong verbal communication skills Flexible, ability to work in a fast pace constantly changing environment with long hours and tight deadlines</p><p>Tesla is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer committed to diversity in the workplace.
