UPG Electrical takes pride in serving automotive, consumer products, aerospace, and defense manufacturers, and logistics industries. Advanced processes include precision steel slitting services, high-speed lamination, stamping, high-pressure aluminum die casting, robotic welding, annealing, and complex assembly capabilities.
UPG Electrical is looking to fill a production welding position for weldments placed on large stator cores used in the manufacturing of locomotive alternators and generators. The welder will be joining structural steel to lamination stacks and welding laminations. This position requires internal certification to the AWS (American Welding Society) D15.1 standard. The certification process will be provided by UPG Electrical. However, applicable welding skills are required to be considered for this position. Applicants must pass the following weld tests to be considered for the position: 2G single bevel with backing and 4F using 0.52 metal core, 1G V-Groove with backing using 1/8, 7018 SMAW, all per AWS D15.1 standards.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform assembly and welding of stator cores.
Proficiency in stick welding and GMAW welding processes
Set up and maintain GMAW station and equipment
Set up and maintain stick welding station and equipment
Maintain production schedules and workflows
Pick and inventory raw materials
Understand and use reference detail manuals and fabrication reference manuals
Understand and use fabrication shop drawings, exception drawings, and weld codes
Ensure quality standards are followed and met
Operate an overhead crane
Perform daily maintenance checks on equipment
Dimensional inspect product using standard measuring equipment
Meet all quality assurance standards
Communicate regularly with team, managers, and support staff
Train new and current team members, as needed
Assist with continuous improvement and cost savings initiatives
Follow safety regulations and maintain a clean work environment
Perform other duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
High School diploma or GED or equivalent experience in manufacturing environment
Ability to understand detailed work instructions, assignments, drawings and reference materials
Ability to interpret and act upon a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
Good mechanical aptitude and trouble shooting skills
Ability to completed welding training program
Must be able to lift 40 pounds regularly
Ability to communicate professionally and effectively
Positive demeanor, dependability, and strong work ethic
