SUMMARY

Support activities in the shop by developing assembly fixtures. Incorporate minor modifications as required on delivered car shells to confirm to manufacturing blueprints. Support activities in the shop by fitting up and tack welding assemblies and subassemblies as directed by lead person.

This job requires that the individual is performing Fitting functions for approximately 50% of the time and welding functions for 50% of the time. Any other percentage of performance will be categorized in the fitter or welder positions depending on the percentage of time in each function.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Correct car shell fabrication mistakes. Incorporate approved car shell design changes where necessary.

Fabricate shop fixtures as required by assembly personnel per engineering sketch. Working from detail drawings, fit-up piece parts in jigs and fixtures, assembly components consisting of steel channels, brackets, angels, sheeting, assemblies and subassemblies. Tack weld and weld all parts according to AWS requirements. Meet production schedule with minimum supervision.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Currently employed as a welder with 5+ years of experience or recent grad from top college

  • 3G AWS certificate within past 12 months or successful 3G test from an AWS Accredited Test Facility(ATF)

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Transcript for any formal academic welding training

  • Reference check

  • Successful video or onsite interview with Siemens hiring managers

  • Able to work multiple shifts

Job Summary: As a valued member of our Production team, you'll layout, fit and fabricate metal components, enclosures and sub-assemblies, using knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and engineering requirements. You'll perform TIG and MIG welding of mild steel, aluminum, and stainless steel. You'll use various types of weld preparation, welding, and weld finishing operations to manufacture products to customer drawings and specifications, or other instructions. You may also cross-train, and will perform all duties as assigned to assist the Metal Shop and Fabrication Supervisor. Essential Functions: * Set-up and operate welding equipment to perform TIG/ MIG welding on a variety of mild steel, aluminum, and stainless steel components. * Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations. * Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, bolt, or grind spare parts as necessary to satisfy the technical requirements and create a welded final product. * Develop templates and other work aids to hold and align parts. * Operate other accessory equipment and perform some tasks necessary for welding metal, such as fusing metal segments, using gas tungsten arc, metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, and other types of welding arcs. * Weld and square up commercial grade electrical enclosures and sub-assemblies. * Have the ability to operate small fabrication machine exam; band- saw, drill press, and power shear. * Complete jobs assigned by the Fabrication Supervisor. * Perform maintenance on equipment and determine/advise when and what kind of maintenance is needed. * Take ownership of preparing and setting up necessary tools and equipment for welding jobs such as shielded metal arc, gas metal arc or other welding equipment. * Perform general cleanup and communication, with an ongoing safety-focus. * Adhere to general safety rules, including the use of PPE. * Perform all other duties as assigned. Education and Experience: * High School diploma or equivalent. * Successful completion of a Tesco MIG & TIG welding test. * One-year experience in various forms of welding. * Skills and Knowledge: * Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment. * Ability to read blueprints. * Attention to detail. * Ability to read units of measure. * MIG * TIG Training and License Requirements: * Tesco Controls, Inc safety training program.
