Job Summary
The Welder works independently to perform maintenance and repair on equipment related to hydraulic fracturing operations; produces metal products according to customer or employer specifications; uses multiple welding machines to repair and maintain structures and metal equipment of various size and complexity; and utilizes all diagnostic methods to determine problems and plan repairs.
Responsibilities
Perform maintenance and repairs on equipment related to hydraulic fracturing operations.
Work independently to produce metal products according to customer or employer specifications
Use multiple welding machines to repair and maintain metal equipment and structures of various size and complexity
Read and interpret diagrams, sketches, and blueprints to determine operations required materials and time frames for project
Utilize diagnostic methods to determine problems and plan repairs
Prepare products for welding by grinding, drilling, milling, tapping, and cutting steel and aluminum parts
Inspect all completed welds for accuracy
Perform routine maintenance and make repairs on all welding units
Perform post-repair quality check on all equipment before returning equipment to service
Inspect all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for wear, tears, and proper functioning and replace defective PPE prior to each welding job (i.e., helmet, goggles, gloves, etc.)
Correctly complete hot work permits
Utilize four-gas monitor hourly to ensure safe conditions for hot work
Perform lock out tag out on hydraulic fracturing components
Safely operate a forklift and other man moving equipment
Safely drive company vehicles and units day or night, on all road types, and in all weather conditions
Monitor work locations for hazards involved with hydraulic fracturing operations and enforce stop work authority
Maintain compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies by attending all required HSE training sessions, safety meetings, and always utilize proper PPE
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum 4 years' welding and fabrication experience, preferred
Must be 6G welding certified or be willing to take and pass a 6G welding certification test, required
Must have comprehensive knowledge of SMAW/GMAW welding procedures
Maintaining a current, valid driver's license and a clean driving record, required
Must be forklift operator certified or willing to attend required training for certification, required
High School diploma or equivalent, required
Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions in English
Must have moderate knowledge of hydraulic fracturing equipment and lock out tag out procedures on each component
Able to read and understand manufacturer instruction manuals, blueprints, schematics, etc.
Strong troubleshooting skills, able to diagnose and successfully resolve complex mechanical issues
Good verbal and written communication skills: able to interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, teammates, vendors, company men, and personnel at all levels of the organization
Proficient performing simple mathematical calculations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
Must be able to use and read a measuring tape
Proficient working in Microsoft Office 365 applications and able to quickly learn other work-related software
Must be willing to be assertive to enact stop work authority
Must be physically able to safely perform all duties during a 12+ hour work shift that will include days, nights, weekends, and holidays
Must be physically able to safely perform all duties in extreme weather conditions
Must by physically able to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, crawl, walk on uneven surfaces, and climb equipment ladders or stairs throughout the work shift
Must be physically able to operate a company vehicle day or night, on all road types, and in all weather conditions
Must be physically able to safely lift to 50 lbs. without assistance
Must be physically able to withstand exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic chemicals, airborne particles, moderate loud noises, and be willing to always utilize all appropriate PPE related to these exposures
