Overview
The Candidate shall primarily provide support to NSWC PCD. Support in this area will include numerous tasks which are dissimilar in nature but have in common fabrication and assembly of metallic and non-metallic materials / components to make completed assemblies per blueprints IAW assigned print tolerances. Candidate performs all essential duties and responsibilities at the direction of the site Project Manager and senior welder.
Responsibilities
This functional area includes direct support in performing fabricating services, such as but not limited to; gathering required materials, laying out parts to include figuring bend allowances, determining what equipment is necessary to complete task, cutting materials to required length, shaping parts to required final dimensions, prepping materials to be welded, fitting components to be welded, welding components, visual inspection of finished welds to satisfactory standards and preparations to facilitate finish coating.
Thecandidateshall be responsible for becoming familiar with Military Weld Standards and determining proper welding techniques to achieve a satisfactory finished weldment. TheCandidatewill be required to achieve weld qualifications IAW NAVSEA 248, ABS, AWS D1.1 and D1.2 certification. Thecandidateshall be responsible to receive raw materials or pre-cut parts, layout and shape to required final dimensions with metal forming equipment or the use of heat to assigned tolerances
Performance of this effort might require access to unclassified information or areas up to the Public Trust level; therefor a background check will be required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.
Thecandidateshall be required to assist with shop clean up and responsible for assuring general shop cleanliness standards in his/her assigned work area. This effort also requires moderate to heavy manual work, or general shop tasks of a simple and routine nature, or the operation of a motor vehicle. Thecandidateshall be able to operate mobile equipment such as forklifts, overhead hoists, and pickup trucks provided by the government and shall be licensed and certified in accordance with state law and ESG/OPC regulations or instructions related to safety.
Qualifications
High School diploma
5 years related experience
Favorable back ground check
Experience at the WG 5210-10 journeyman level IAW NAVSEA 248, ABS welder certification and Applicable ASME standards
Must be able to obtain Navy CAT III Crane Certification
Must be able to obtain Forklift operator qualification
