MetalTek International, Sandusky International Division has an immediate opening for a certified welder. Candidates must possess ASME Group P-8 (vertical position) and be capable of passing other welding performance tests on most material under various Safety Codes and Military/Naval Specifications as may be designated by our customers. . Joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques.
Must maintain normal industry standards of output on heavy, production-type welding. Must have consistent performance in the preparation, application, and finishing of precise, uniform, and sound repair welds on finish product. Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams and/or schematics to determine appropriate welding process.
Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness. Must have working knowledge of weld metallurgy and factors affecting welds on metals cast or used in production. Perform general duties in the Machine Shop and Skilled Service departments including but not limited to roll finishing, drill removal, operation of overhead crane and other heavy lift devices, and other work as required.
Requires self-motivation and detail orientation to assure accuracy with ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion with instructions while adhering to prescribed routines and practices for the maintenance of records. Must work effectively with internal and external customers, while performing functions for:
ASME P-8 (vertical position) certified welds
Inspection of product and completed welds
Completing assigned tasks in production areas to prescribed production standards
Assisting other personnel in production areas and departments
All positions require a high school diploma or equivalent and valid driver's license.
