The Welder produces requested products and parts utilizing demonstrated welding and fabrication skills. This position interprets blue prints to build the required components and products maintaining quality in a cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Builds component/product according to blueprint specifications using appropriate cutting and welding.

  • Analyzes blueprints and work orders and obtains necessary parts, fixtures, tooling and materials and supplies.

  • Establishes the layout of the work area for the most efficient production of the component/ product.

  • Formulates the production of the component/product including the location of parts in the tooling and the welding process.

  • Determines welder amperage wire speed settings and gas requirements.

  • Checks for accuracy and quality on completed components/products.

  • Expedites work processes within the welding department to timely work flow to next department.

  • Initiates procedures which comply with OSHA / MSHA requirements regarding safety issues, use of safety equipment, material safety data sheets, etc.

  • Trains new employees on use of equipment work procedures and department guidelines.

  • Cleans parts, tools and work area (department) to ensure ongoing efficiency and safety in the production process.

  • Documents or revises ISO 9001:2000 procedures to ensure compliance with established standards.

  • Establishes individual and team goals which are aligned with the Company's business strategies and objectives.

  • Functions as a contributing member of the department's team and other teams, as assigned.

  • Assists the department in the accomplishment of the team's goals.

  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

Education, Experience & Training:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Formal post-secondary welding classes or one or more years of job related experience.

  • Blueprint reading required.
