We have a great opportunity for a Welder/Fabricator in our Wyandanch, NY location!
Summary
Under direction, perform needed fabrication and welding for the remanufacturing of utility construction vehicles using a variety of metals of varying thickness. Provide written documentation of completed tasks as required by the company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform necessary fabrication and body repairs, such as cutting and welding body pieces, installing and attaching hydraulic hoses, and all other fabrication related activities within company guidelines.
Perform necessary disassembly of body and equipment, such as removal of fasteners, welded components, tie downs, removing hydraulic hoses, and all other disassembly related activities within company guidelines.
Perform structural welding, including horizontal and vertical welding on structural components.
Weld fitted parts together in proper manner within company guidelines.
Remove high spots and cut bevels, using hand files, portable grinders, and cutting torches to company standards.
Maintain accurate records of work performed on each vehicle daily as required to establish labor hours for vehicle costs.
Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications, using squares, rulers, and measuring tapes in accordance with company standards.
Align and fit parts using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers according to specifications.
Move parts into position, manually or with hoists or cranes.
Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications, and using jigs, cutting torches, welders and hand tools as directed.
Understand drawings and directions to determine material requirements and task sequences.
Examine metal stock or work pieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are met.
Maintain tools, equipment and shop area for the purpose of ensuring the availability and functioning of required tools and equipment within a safe work area.
Perform other related duties as assigned by manager for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Maintain punctual attendance in accordance with schedule and company's attendance schedule.
Keep work area clean, safe and organized.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Previous welding and fabrication experience.
Must be able to pass a welding certification test.
Blow torches
High school diploma or the equivalent.
Must be detail oriented and accurate
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment; must be able to meet deadlines and schedules
Setting priorities and adapting to changing work priorities
Must be self-sufficient and driven
Strong attendance record
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, physical, and/or audiogram
General mechanical aptitude and experience with parts required. Knowledge of hydraulic, heavy equipment, diesel truck and/or farm equipment preferred.
General aptitude in working with common computer software (MS Office Suite, internet, etc.) to accurately record time spent on repair orders.
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing a positive service experience. This includes internal client needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Working Conditions
The ability to work as scheduled with punctual attendance, Monday-Friday plus any additional hours/days necessary in order to meet business demands
Majority of work performed in a shop and outside.
Exposure to bright lights, extreme temperatures, loud noise, dust, gas and/or fumes.
Physical Requirements
Ability to walk and stand on concrete and uneven surfaces for at least 8 hours per day
Frequent lifting (60-100lbs), carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing on ladders and platforms of heights above 10ft, significant stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling throughout an 8-12 hours day, and up to 60 hours per week.
Occasional use of foot/feet to operate foot pedal on equipment to test operation
Ability to see things in close proximity whether through natural or corrected vision
Activities requiring handling and grasping with the hands when performing repairs or maintenance of equipment by utilizing hand tools, power tools, air tools, nuts, bolts, electronic controls, and other small parts
