An exciting opportunity exists for a Machine Shop Welder at our St. Joseph, MO location. The Machine Shop Welder is to support plant production within the Machine Shop.
SHIFT: 2nd
PAY: $25.26
Primary Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Weld repair steel and stainless-steel castings utilizing FCAW, SMAW processes.
Utilize grinders and air powered chisels to remove minor surface defects on the castings.
Utilize Carbon Arc gouging to remove excess stock, cut out defects and level riser burn cuts.
Keep work area clean
Alert supervisor of any safety or quality issues
Alert supervisor of any maintenance issues
Recommend process improvements
Participate in special activities, projects, and programs to support Bradken safety, quality, and productivity goals
Occasionally lift 60 lbs. (role of welding wire)
Additional responsibilities as designated
Key Selection Criteria
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Must pass practical welding tests within 90 days of hire
Experience:
1-2 years welding experience preferred
FCAW Certification preferred
Operation of various grinders electric and pneumatic preferred
Operation and usage of cutting torch preferred
Operation and usage of Carbon Arc (Arc Air) for removal of defects and dressing preferred
Operation of bridge cranes preferred
Skills and Knowledge:
Safety minded first and foremost
Good written and verbal communication skills
Must be able to read Welder Specification Procedures (WPS), interpret work instructions.
Ability to weld in 1G, 2G, and 3G positions
Must be able to document work on daily Labor Tickets.
Ability to work with limited direct supervision
Ability to work independently or in a team environment
