Summary Statement: Applies advanced technical skills and knowledge to fabricate, fit, weld, and repair jet engine exhaust components and assemblies per work instructions and tooling to achieve desired levels of cost, quality, and schedule.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
Applies welding expertise to fabricate, fit, weld, and repair jet engine exhaust components and assemblies that are moderately complex to complex requiring experience and judgment to determine plans and action from standard procedural alternatives. Works independently and determines own priorities.
Performs tasks associated with welding aircraft components. Reviews work instructions, selects and sets up equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding process. Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together.
Positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding. Welds metal parts together using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes to fabricate or repair aircraft engine structural components and other products. Performs related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding.
Aids and assists other welders to accomplish repairs. Provides training to other team members as necessary. Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
Repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes, and increases size of metal parts. Assembles parts by bolting and riveting. Ancillary Functions and Responsibilities:
Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications other than the primary assignment. JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
WELDER A Formal Education, Training and Work Experience: Experience may be substituted for the formal education and training requirements in this section at the discretion of management. Technical school or equivalent practical experience and four (4) to seven (7) or more years of aircraft welding or welding thin gauge aluminum preferably for operational aircraft applications.

Works under general supervision.
Work is reviewed for completion to quality standards and schedule requirements. May adapt techniques and tools to meet special needs with approval from management. Special Skills, Licenses or Job Requirements:
Demonstrate competency in applying the following in performing normal job duties. Read and write English to interpret work instructions, blueprints and measuring equipment. Successfully pass the welding test as outlined in MIL-STD-1595A.
Sound working knowledge of aircraft repair process and materials. Special Training and Behavioral Competencies: Safety training as required by OSHA.
Respirator training and certification. Jeager eye test. Complete the required NORDAM University training for all Stakeholders.
Comply with The NORDAM Group Leadership Competencies for Stakeholders. Ability and willingness to assist and transfer technical knowledge to less experienced Stakeholders. Physical Requirements:

The Stakeholder is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear. The Stakeholder must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolding, platform ladders or other mechanical-elevated devices. Overtime is a requirement of the job. Must be able to work in excess of eight hours per day and five days per week.
