Your Responsibilities

As a Weld Engineering Supervisor located in Valley City, ND you will lead a team of weld and Tool design engineers supporting the VC manufacturing, also provide daily supervision of administrative and technical issues involving a functional group of engineers and engineering support personnel. This supervisory position provides work direction concerning safety, quality, cost, environmental and schedule of engineering work or projects to a large group of six or more direct reports in Manufacturing Engineering. Work at this level typically involves two or more competencies or disciplines across multiple products and/or a major project/process that requires integration of engineering disciplines. Responsibilities may include working outside functional or contract group, leading medium to large sized cross- functional teams, and providing work direction to lower level on Manufacturing Engineering.

Additionally, you will:

  • Supervise the Weld / Tool Engineers team, responsible to support factory weld process improvements, process optimization, planning processes & tools, Innovation, automation & Continuous Improvement: CI200, quality risk mitigation.

  • Employee Engagement & Development: recruiting, performance growth, building diverse teams, fostering inclusion, growth in the Science of Weld.

  • Production Support: Lead the Weld Engineers to Investigate product quality problems, define root cause for quality issues, containment, and resolution, to reduce or eliminate non-value waste resulting from non-conformances, rework, scrap, or field concerns.

  • Design engineering solutions and the associated validation process to enable the realization of a design brief (for example, functionality, performance, and cost) that conforms to organizational and/or regulatory standards.

  • Support weld Engineering strategic planning and continuous weld process improvement of overall business.

  • Train, develop, coach Weld Engineers, and support their career development to achieve ongoing growth and professional development.

  • Active involvement with Smart Connected Factory improvements: data analytics, reporting, quality process automation.

What Skills You Need

  • 5 or more years of experience with implementing new weld process, equipment, new technologies.

  • 3 or more years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering and Operations and in some competencies like weld, primaries, and tool design.

  • 5 or more years of experience with direct or indirect people leadership experience: work direction, prioritization, goal setting, performance feedback, mentoring, meeting facilitation, and conflict resolution.

  • Experience with Strategic projects related to competency development and capacity expansion.

  • Demonstrated strong cross-functional teamwork and collaboration in a factory role.

  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated Project Management skills, and ability to lead / facilitate large meetings.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.

  • Experience in the use of manufacturing information systems (SAP, JDAAT MPP) or similar systems.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • 7 or more years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering role.

  • Six Sigma Training or certifications or equivalent demonstrated work experiences.

  • Experience facilitating and leading teams through complex technical problems.

  • Knowledge of Manufacturing, products, and customers: Air seeding, No Till, Hoe Drill, Tillage.

  • Experience using, developing, and maintaining visualization and communication systems and production tools: (ex. SharePoint, Power BI, Ignition, JDAAT, MPP, SAP)

  • Experience leading manufacturing process optimization to improve: Safety, Quality, Capacity increase, productivity, and cost reduction.

  • Experience with lean manufacturing culture, and manufacturing excellence projects.

  • Experience working in one or more cross functional roles including manufacturing engineering, operations, product engineering, and project management.

  • Experience facilitating and leading teams through complex projects or technical problems.

  • Experience delivering manufacturing innovations and new technologies.

  • Master's degree.

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (4 year).
