Description

The Weld Engineer II reviews code requirements and customer specifications to convey fabrication and welding order requirements to Manufacturing. The Weld Engineer II collaborates with QA Engineers to ensure quality and fabrication requirements align. Weld Engineer II will manage multiple jobs and priorities, to ensure timely completion of planning activities for complex commercial engineered to order products. The Weld Engineer II has show proficiency as a Weld Engineer I, completed required ASME training or has comparable experience. This position is a general report to the Quality Manager.

Job Duties:

  • Ability to review and comprehend complex specifications and industry codes

  • Professional written communications with applications, project engineering and/or customer to clarify requirements

  • Identify and submit required documentation for customer review.

  • Identifies welding requirements and new welding requirements as required.

  • Facilitates weld procedure development and determines required testing.

  • Writes program procedures and addenda as required to meet order requirements

  • Populate weld maps as required.

  • Communicates with shop staff, QA/QC inspectors and engineering staff on a daily basis concerning activity requirements.

  • Participates in non conformance reviews, corrective actions and continuous improvement.

  • Participates in customer meetings.

  • Provide support to ensure product is manufactured in accordance with customer, regulatory, and company requirements.

  • Recommend corrective action or improvements to satisfy customers.

  • Provide program support to manufacturing, quality, engineering and applications engineering.

  • Ability to follow and adhere to quality management system procedures.

Requirements

Qualifications:

To qualify for this position, an individual must possess the knowledge, training, experience and abilities required.

Education and Training

  • Bachelor's Degree from four-year college or university in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of manufacturing, lean practices, and quality systems (ISO) experience.

  • Training and Experience in ANSI, ISO, ASME IX and ASME VIII.

Other:

  • Must be willing to work overtime as required.

  • Travel up to 10% of working time.
